I had inquired about LATA a few weeks ago-
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/59262-la-awesome-apc.html
and got some to try out.
I had always heard about LA's Totally Awesome APC but it was never available in Canada until recently. I bought some and decided to try it out against my reigning champ of tire cleaners, Zep 505. Anyone who has ever read my writeups knows that I had always used Zep Purple for cleaning tires. It is a very good, and very powerful cleaner...but...boy did it bother my lungs. You really don't want to breathe that stuff! So, I got a recommendation for Zep 505 and now that's all I use. It clings beautifully to the tire and does a great job of cleaning, without the noxious fumes! So LATA needs to be a big contender to knock this champ off the perch.
First the particulars. LATA at 100%; 505 @ 100%. Sprayed on and then scrubbed in. LATA on the right side of the tire, 505 on the left.
LATA Side:
505 Side:
Tire dried off after test.
The LATA is $1.25 for 946 ml, so you're talking a rough conversion of $5.00 a gallon. The Zep is about $8. For tire cleaning, I found them to be equal. I think I ended up using more of the LATA to do the same cleaning job due to its runny nature. I was using a Sprayway gray bottle for the Zep. It doesn't make any other cleaner foam, so I think it's a result of the chemical and not the sprayer.
As far as odour goes, the LATA reminded me of the Zep Purple. Using it outside cleaning tires was not too bad, but then when I was testing it inside on some stuff, it was making me cough. No question about it that this is an amazing cleaner. I pre-treated some stains on a yellow ski jacket I have and it came out of the wash looking perfect.
BTW, if you like Kwazar bottles, but not the price, check out this same review on L2D...there's an additional segment to it.
