My order from last week arrived very quickly and I'm so thrilled as I need it all so much.

The 2 3/4 inch plate for the 4 inch spot CCS pads went on beautifully and so did the 6 inch LC plate. however the 4 3/4 inch one just keeps spinning over and over on the makita 9227 shaft and I'm wondering if this could be due to imperial thread vs metric. Is their a difference in size of shafts on american sold makita's compared to the aussie version.

Not upset as I only have one 5.5 inch pad and the 6 inch will cover the 6.5 and 7.5 inch pads and I have a trusty 4 month old Edge 7 inch so I'm ok

Have left a message on Autogeek and Lake country's international numbers.

I am not sure but the Makita may have a metric thread..a M14 thread....there is a adapter to make a M14 thread fit a 5/8ths thread..by 3M..but they are hard to come by...you may find one in your local body shop supply store...

If you have the book for the Makita look at the thread size...I think the ones for Aust are metric..since you use 220V also...

call a aussie tool place also for the thread size

Sending you a PM right now.

I agree with Al, I found this out when I got my 3M backing plate. I had my machine shop make me an adaptor 5/8 female to M14 Male.

Looks something like this:

Works really good.

My 5/8" Edge adapter fits perfectly on my Makita.

He has a different version I think...most of the European and foreign versions come with metric threads..so a 5/8 ths thread will not work....they come with a M14 metric thread...

Thanks Al. That was a head scratcher for awhile.

Cool thanks guys. I'll email a body shop I know about it
I tell ya there is bugger all difference between them, the 5/8ths is only a tad off.

Well it turns out that the part no - 43-175 listed on autogeek is made by LC in 5/8ths and 14mm and I reckon that somehow AG have ended up with a few 14mm or fractionally smaller 5/8 threaded ones which will fit. As I looked closely a few minutes ago, there is a definate difference between the threads of the 6 inch and the 4 3/4

Since AG is now a shop supplying to people all over the planet including UK and Australia, could you stock some of the LC-43-160WH and LC 43-175 in 14mm.

Would really help guys as I like to have plenty of plates around just in case one goes flying like the 5/8ths 7 inch plate did a year ago. Flew across the room like a frisbee. Lucky I was only working on dads repainted hood (off the car) at the time

I got that 3M Superbuff M14 to 5/8 adaptor from a crash repair supply business locally but a big thankyou to all inc Mr Duragloss for mentioning the 3M adaptor

I tell ya the size diff is so minimal. fortunately the shop stock heaps of the adaptors and very cheap too.

Glad to hear that you found the adapters that you need. Let us know if you need any 14mm backing plates in the future, we can get them.

Cheers Mr DC. Only diff is that the pads are now about two inches further away from the head of the rotary due to adaptor.
I also found my 7 inch plate and it's all ok.
