Are leaf blowers effective at drying off cars? and is one that creates 160mph, creating enough power to do the job?

Thankyou!

Yeah they are, I have a little 16v 160kph. 160mph will be more than enough = 257kph you dont want to blow your car over.... =)

i had both the weedeater and craftsman 150-160 mph electric leaf blower and they'll do the job (light too) just fine as long as you have a good coat of wax/sealant/coating on the vehicle water will fly off. i wouldn't worry about getting every last drop but just the majority and also in the seams/cracks (where water hides) and follow up with a microfiber towel and qd/spray wax to get the remaining droplets. you should be able to find one at walmart for around $30 or check CL...

Very helpful guys!!! Thankyou for your responses!
After your posts I found a good one for $35.

Have a great weekend!

Yes. They work fine. I use it all the time. Mainly to ensure I get the gallons of water out of all the joints and what not. Having two black vehicles, I can't stand water seeping out after I simply towel dry.

I am not sure how good Greenworks 24012 7 Amp is but it was on sale for 15 few days ago..

I have the Ridgid 4 gal shop vac with detachable blower. Great 2 in 1 product. Blower works fine for drying the vehicle (leaves and trimmings also).

Ryobi now makes a lithium battery one for about $110 that adds no-cord convenience, very helpful. The Autogeek blower-dryer is also very good.

$26 Sun Joe works great.

I have a small one I got at Costco b/c it was cheap and I figured it would work. Not even close. Way too small. My 40v cordless leaf blower works pretty well.

Just used my backpack blower today after a wash as I normally do. It's not only a quick way to dry, it's fun. 210mph really sheds some water. And fast!

i bought this one at walmart on clearance ($7.50) many years ago and it's good to use for light interior dust/engine/doors/shuts to blow water out and it's light enough to hold it in one hand with a microfiber towel in the other and wipe as you go. i wouldn't use it to dry a whole car though, it would take a long time...

I do hear that the Auto Geek one is good, but it just seems there are far more cheaper products out there that can do the same thing. Thankyou for sharing these options man!

If I was driving by and saw you using that I'd probably think "man that gardener's got some stones blowing directly at someones car like that" lol.

Meant to comment that while a leaf blower works, the control is not very good. All the car specific blowers have a flexible hose and a handle near the end of the hose. No doubt much easier to use. If I didn't have anything I would look at one of the auto specific blowers first.

No matter how well I dry, using the leaf blower and drying towels I always get water leaking from tail lights and side view mirrors on my GTI. Even if the car sits for a day the next time I take her out I can expect water spots in the same area like clockwork.

Kinda sucks actually lol
