Haven’t looked at clay bar alternatives because I’ve been working through my stockpile of traditional clay bars. Was watching a DIY detail video today where Yvan said that clay towels are less marring. All that to get around to my question…

WHAT is the least aggressive clay towel/tool?

The Nano-Skin "Fine" sponges are pretty non-aggressive IMO.

But then so are most synthetic alternatives if you use them correctly.

But remember...... Nothing beats real clay on heavily-soiled paint. :)

The great times I've used the Optimum Clay Towel it seemed very effective and very gentle - moreso than any other synthetic clay medium.

My favorite is still the Meguiar's clay bars, from the grey consumer version to the aggressive professional version.
