there is a lot of junk out there. tons of reviews of all kinds of items but minimal reviews for our purpose.

really i just want it for doing interiors and such, but wouldn't mind having it powerful enough to check for marring.

i have a ridiculously huge head, the biggest ever, so i'm hoping that whatever i get that it at least fits.

I have a cheap $5 one.

Works well for providing extra light, though probably not so good for finding light swirls etc.

I was at Costco a few months ago and they had a special on a pack of three 'generic" 10 LED headlamps complete with Duracell AAA batteries. Plenty bright for a measly six bucks each.

Was looking forward to trying out the Black Diamond Spot headlamp I ordered from amazon, but the inventory ran out in between my order and the shipping...had some very good reviews though.

I have two of these and love them. I highly recommend them. Great reviews. Great quality. Adjustable brightness. Multiple lighting modes. Spot beam for long throw and wide beam.

If you really want to blow your mind on lights, check out CandlePowerForums. These guys and gals are more passionate about their lights than we are with cars.

This is my favorite light so far. Runs on either 2 x CR123 or 1 x Rechargeable 18650. I run a 3400 mAh 18650 EagleTac Protected cell in mine. The beam has no hot spots, the headband is comfortable and adjustable (fits my size 8 head with a hat on), and on Turbo mode it's extremely bright. The initial investment (lamp, cells, & charger) is high but it pays off over the life of the light.

I'll second this. Both my wife and I have the BD Spot headlamps for backpacking, and couldn't ask for any better.

Glad to hear it! I had to re-order earlier today and it will be here on Sat :-)

wow i had flashbacks to my Mini-Z racing days looking at that type of charger and eneloop nimh, haha. in the mid-2000s i was running 2500 mah nimh AAs in all of my RC radios. batteries were such a point of nerdy overthinking, at one point i was sourcing special spec AAAs for my cars (since they use four AAAs, not packs) and charging them with a custom battery tray and my totally programmable computer-controlled RC battery charger. i don't miss that nonsense one bit!

so i ended up getting the latest gen Black Diamond Spot. it was about ~$35 shipped so i'll see how it works out. i was going to go nuts with the above piece but i couldn't justify double the price...yet.

thanks for the insights, guize.

Where did you get the BD Spot Builthatch?

Amazon. it was just above the level for free shipping. there was an original one that i think was 100 lumens then the new one which is like 130, so i got the new one. i thought it was funny that some colors were more expensive or cheaper than others, haha.

I ordered the latest gen as well; I had tried to order the previous gen as it was on sale (and got snapped up quickly)--so I got the current gen Titanium color.

Never even considered one. Although I do have one that I found in an auction car a year ago. Why do you need them? Sunlight is all you need, then again our shop is running 10,000+ watts of lighting so I guess that could be why, lol.

I have a LED Lenser and its excellent for interior/paintwork! Must have for any individual.

<--Hobbyist here and I have a single-car garage with one overhead light. It's nice to have one for car repairs/maint and night-running as well.
