Lexus dash and arm rest sticky?

So my next door neighbor has a Lexus 2003 and the dash is sticky to the touch. It also scratches real easy. My dad also has a Lexus and when it gets hot the arm rest heats up from the sun and is sticky also, Has anybody ran into this before? If so can It be fix.

Lexus has announced an extended repair on some vehicles with this problem. They are replacing the sticky dash and door panels on the following vehicles.

ES 350 2007-2008
GX 470 2003-2008
IS 250/350 2006-2008
LS 460 2007
RX 330 2004-2006
RX 350 2007-2009
RX 400h 2005-2008

Looks like the only 2003 model involved is the GX470 but it wouldn't hurt to contact a Lexus dealership and show them the vehicle.

They are also replacing the sticky dash and or door panels on the following Toyota models.

Camry/HV 2007-2011
Sienna 2004-2010
Solara 2004-2008

Call the dealership. Their is coverage for a lot of Toyota & Lexus cars with this issue.

I had a similar problem with my own car, the plastic parts were sticky; the plastic was affected, probably a reaction to some detailing product used by the previous owner. I tried a lot of products, the only thing that was able to remove the sticky residue was IPA 100% and a lot of elbow grease.
