i just got this new machine, plugged it in and nothing, dead as a brick. Just curious if anyone else had this happen. I'll have the replacement in a few days so I'm not worried,I know they'll make it right. No worries,Just curious. I was anxious to use it.

i thought each one of these were tested before they were packaged/boxed from the factory?

Probably a faulty trigger. Mine you have to press it all the way down, and sometimes it seems it won't start, you press it and keep it pressed, then it will start. Lot different from Flex and other DAs.

Italian made gear reliability ... hmm.

Every product has a few faults. A detailing package is pretty much Christmas so the annoyance is understandable.

I did get it from AG. I believe the replacement is on its way. I just thought it strange it didn't work at all. Never a doubt AG would make it right

The Rupes has a delay start. Did you hold the trigger for a second or two?

That's a pretty bogus random comment, not to mention some what racially biased against Italian made products. I have three Rupes polishers and they work flawlessly.

I have another buffer with a delay so I do held it down for a good 3-4 seconds, even tapped it with my palm a few times with trigger depressed with no sign of life.

yes, anything man made is going to have problems and that goes for all polishers. if I was doing this for a living and had to rely between the flex and rupes there's no doubt it would be a flex and yes i own both. more versatile with different backing plates/pads offered, and just a workhorse of a polisher. they have a repair facility here in the states which is another key factor if you have a problem down the line. the rupes has/d no place to repair them and their customer service was non-existent (i'm sure it's changed now) and i had a few problems that left a bad taste in my mouth. also, the QC control between the two IMO is better with the flex and feels more solidly built. however, i do want to purchase/try out the rupes torch but it's not cheap and i'm sure the same exact thing can be found for a lot less (if someone knows please let me know) in the end, it's your hard earned money and you have the right to spend it on whatever you personally like...

Never a doubt AG would make it right! The new one arrived yesterday and works fine. Now just need to make time to put it to work. They upgraded me to the HD on the first one & the replacement also had the longer cord. Kinda thinking I should have gone that route on the other machines I ordered, that long cord looks to be nice feature.

Heres the real question, was your replacement a NEW machine out of the box or a refurbished unit ?

I would ask AG to be clear on this. Considering your machine was brand new and never used, I would not settle for a refurb.
