I can tell you since joining AGO it has changed my life in making me happy, I just love visiting here daily ,several times per day.

You know I always thought of myself as a good detailer but since becoming a member here I learned so much more.
Good people with so much knowledge:dblthumb2:

If you love it here as I do say it:)

Thanks AGO for having the best detailing site on the net and for all of the tips and products you sell and explain them all to us:dblthumb2:

Same here, I've learned lots of great tricks and tips, it has helped me so much, I'm so glad I found this site.. Thanks to all the great people who contribute all the best info and help...

+1 here!

I had lurked here (and still do...) for a looooooong time before I ever posted anything - mostly because every question I had or answer I needed had already been addressed and I found the info via a search. That very fact is a testament to the amount of knowledge that exists here and the quality of those offering it.

And, while the content is vast in its breadth (absolute beginners to weekend dabblers all the way to full-time professionals) it's the user submitted tips and practices that I personally enjoy the most. I can't tell you how many tips I've incorporated into my routine. From simple time/step savers to tweaks in various techniques that result in superior results... I feel like a thief sometimes for having stolen so much! :o

One of the things that truly sets this site apart from the many others is the respect and genuine concern for the people and their respective posts which I witness nearly every day. Equally admirable and very cool are the panic posts (for lack of a better term) submitted by someone who is certain they've just ruined a finish only to be quickly set at ease and peeled off the ceiling by one of the veterans who are quick to reply with a fast fix or sure-fire work around thereby restoring peace and normal breathing rates to the OP. :applause::laughing:

Did it just get all warm and tingly in here or is it just me? :D

Nice post Steve!!

I think sometimes that if we could hear a tone of voice as we read replies we'd feel even more at ease with some of the replies here. I don't know about anyone else here but I think I used to mis-read some replies (perhaps still do) and think people were being meanies. In fact, there are very few meanies here and it gets downright spoiling.

I've visited some other forums (non detailing related) and felt the need to run away like a scalded dog with my tail between my legs. There are a lot of mean spirited forums out there. AGO is just a great place to be. Been coming back to it daily for over 4 years now, even in the times like right now when I feel completely burned out on detailing.

Nice post Steve!!
Thanks!

Yup! You hit the nail on the head right there! And when those periods happen, it's the excitement you can hear in the voice of the poster that just accomplished their first successful correction or reading a how-to about a new technique or product or reading a post that fills in the blanks on a subject I've never really known all the specifics for that re-energizes me and gets me excited about detailing again.

My lady sees me giggling while I am on my phone. She then says "what did AutoGeek say"

She now automatically does it :)

This site gets me excited about detailing. I feel if I do ask a question I will get a good answer and not made to feel like lesser of a person for asking.

Ha. Yeah. AGO; y'all are jerks. Costing me money :P

Same here though. I did NOT consider myself a 'detailer' of any sorts. Just a guy who took good care of his cars. Then, on a completely unrelated forum, someone mentioned 'swirls' showing up on my paint because of how I was washing it. I looked up 'swirls'. Realized I had them! Then began reading, delving into it more, learning, and landed on AGO!

Now I realize how nasty 90% of the cars are on the road, AND how much work I have to do to de-swirl two motorcycles and my wifes car. Plus, I gave AutoGeek (and Amazon) a bunch of money to get all the junk I needed! :P

Though I was amazed to find the number of pro detailers, mobile detailers, and people with a real appreciation for the craft. I like doing it on my own car, but my hat is off to you guys; because I know I would not have the motivation to do the kind of work you guys do on someone elses car. It would really be a chore. ESPECIALLY knowing many of them are going to come back swirled-up from the automatic swirl-installer at the gas station.

This is BIG.

This forum I can best compare to a Photography forum I used to frequent, but no longer. I know photography and detailing aren't the same but the 'forum base' essentially is. You have people who are new to the hobby with low end equipment, then you have 'enthusiasts' with high end equipment and deep pockets. Then you have professionals, both newbies and experienced pro's.

The photog forum though, is not newbie friendly. I've literally been told on that forum just to give up, because it wasn't any good and I was wasting their time. I'm not a pro photographer, nor am I trying to be the next Ansel Adams. I just like taking pictures (my wife is into it a lot more than I am and far better at it, but sometimes I steal her gear and go do some shooting!). And, of course, DSLR photography is a lot more advanced than just a point and shoot. So all I'm looking for is what to improve on!

Here at AGO; as I said, it's a lot the same- in terms of who is on the forums. A spread from brand new newbie, to respected and renowned professional. However here, people are friendly. They give advice. They eagerly want to teach. It's easy to learn here!

So thanks AGO! Well, no-thanks for costing me a bunch of money and forever ruining me (thought my car looked pretty good before... Jerks..), but thanks for being friendly and a great learning environment!

I never called myself a "Detailer" until I met AGO. I always called myself a "buffer"

This place has been a blessing for me and I am sure for others as well...

Well said Steve:dblthumb2:

Rude people isn't a factor here, in fact most are just helpful, I know they helped me many times.
If there was a rude person that were to join here he'd be ran off.
IMO this is the best detailing site on the Internet ,without question.

I too accidentally landed here after a Google search and can't believe how much I've learned in a short period of time (also can't believe how much I've spent on detailing products! lol). I'm not a detailer, just someone who wants to take care of her new car. This past weekend, I did a minor correction on my mom's 10 yr. old Lexus RX300. The thing was swirled and marred to oblivion. She uses one of those horrid automatic brush car washes. Thanks to the knowledge (and confidence) obtained from this site and all who contribute, I was able to take out the majority of swirls and haze using my new GG DA. It was the first time I've ever used a DA. The results were amazing, and has inspired my mom to stay away from those car washes. She wants to keep it looking as nice as it looks now. So a big thanks to AG and the contributors from me (and Mom :) ) as well.

I think one big plus here (among MANY others) is the lack of 'drama kings and queens.'

Nothing will chase folks away than infighting and lack of respect to others. We may get a tiny bit of 'it' but nothing like I've seen on other forums.

Sooo, with that said...great job guys (and Gals)!

Bill
