I am curious. I have a lamp in my house which is rated for a 75 watt incandescent bulb/12 watt led.
So why cannot I safely use a 15 watt led that this equivalent to a 100 watt incandescent bulb?

Does it actually say 75 watt incandescent and 12 watt led? Usually they have a rating due to heat. A led shouldn't get hot enough to cause a issue.

I'm pretty sure I saw a lamp labeled like this also and thought to myself "that doesn't make any sense, a 75 watt bulb generates a lot more heat than a 12 watt bulb--you should be able to use a 300-watt equivalent LED bulb...it should just say 75 watts max". I going to guess this is a cultural/translation issue rather than a technical one.
