I have a brand new surfboard and thought by putting liquid glass nautical wax on it it would protect it from dings etc. Can you please let me know if this application is OK to use on a surfboard or is there another application better suites. Wanted to apply it prior to applying the surfboard wax.

I know nothing about surfboards but welcome to the forum!

Liquid Glass wont protect from dings. I don't think any detailing product can protect from a ding. The force it takes to ding a surfboard is significant, and significant enough to get through any wax, sealant, or coating.

Is the board Epoxy? If not, than a coating like Opti Coat could probably prevent any fade from the sun.

Where are you surfing, what board(s)? I surf in my free time pretty much all over Florida.

Hi and welcome to Autogeek Online!

I don't surf, but I like my truck to have that SoCal look...

Wanted to apply it prior to applying the surfboard wax.

Like mentioned, nothing your pour out of a bottle or scoop out of a can is going to create a "Barrier Coating" that will resist hard impacts...

Also, it's very possible that some waxes or sealants you apply will be removed when you apply your surfboard wax, it depends upon the surfboard wax and what's inside of it like solvents, (good or bad), cleaning agents, carrying agents etc.

To be honest, if your surfboard is new, modern technology means that in all likely hood if it's a name brand surfboard it's made of very high quality materials and just using a premium quality surfboard wax will be more than sufficient to protect it and make it look good plus give you the grip you need when you're riding it...

Now how about a picture? :Picture:

And since this was your first post to the forum,

thanks to everyones post, i have a cannibal 7.0 (Big wave board but I used it to learn on... and for the waves here in Va Beach I wanted something with more float) but the new one is a production model from China (I know I Know) I just wanted a thicker board without having to mortgage my house. It think it is epoxy and for the price I think it will do fine.

Also love the orange Cali Truck Nice ride

Welcome! NJ surfer here. I'd be interested to hear how you make out with Liquid Glass and if it can keep fiberglass from yellowing over time.

do you apply top and bottom. Do you use the nautical liquid glass??

On my water skis, I apply on both top and bottom. Of course they have a place to put your feet, whereas a surfboard does not (I don't think)

Are you applying to perserve your boards appearence, or just trying to get more hang time?

Hi and Welcome To Autogeek Online!

Have you ever surfed before or are you just starting out?

I did a lot of surfing back in my 20's and early 30's and used to wax the bottom side with any old wax I had laying around.

Waxing the top side of the board with softer wax was essential as it gave me the traction or "stick" for my feet to grab onto in order to steer and stay in control.

Now, while it's been a few years I don't think surfboard technology's changed that greatly but if it were me automobile wax is not what you want to use on the rider side of the board....but that's just my opinion...:dunno:
