Long Term Test - 3M Perfect-it Show Car Paste Wax

This is a long term test of 3M Perfect It Show Car Paste Wax. It was applied to a Ford Escape, which is a daily driver. The paint has some imperfections, which will hopefully simulate realistic conditions. The test was started 11/23/2007.

I recently purchased a can of 3M Perfect It Show Car Paste Wax to try it out. The wax cost me about $12.00. I like many of the other 3M products, so I thought I would give this a try.

IMO a very good wax, how is the beading so far?

It still beads pretty well. I've found that it sheets off most of the water, so the beading is not consistent. In spots where water is left behind, it beads quite well. It's holding up much better than I thought. I wanted to move on to test another wax, but it just keeps on working. The car is getting somewhat abused as well. I may have to do another warm weather test as well.

This is my favorit also it added more black on my car and gave long durability on protection

#26 is my go to wax, may have to give the 3m a try. How would you compare it to #26

I've not used #26 before. It's on my list to test, along with many other waxes/sealants.

this wax use to be a bear to remove, any easier now ??

I used it on my Cobra and it was real difficult to remove. It made the metal flake pop though.

i also not used #26 before but i heard about they are similaly but not sure about this.

on my experience if compare to collinite, fourstar and p21s. 3m perfect-it a little bit to be bear to remove.

It was very easy to remove. I applied it when it was cold out, though. I don't know if that had any effect on it or not. I let the wax sit for about 5 minutes before removing it. It came off really easy. If they changed the forumla of this stuff, I'm pretty sure I don't have a new can.

I don't know how this would compare to #26. I'm basically only testing performance and durability. How a wax looks is so subjective that I felt it would be better to not even include any favorability results. I think the wax looks OK, not great. If you like the looks of #26, you may not be impressed with the 3M.

I've got about 6 more cars lined up for other long term tests. I'll be testing S100, P21 100%, Megs #26, Optimum Poli-Seal

Any other suggestions?

I've posted more pictures of the test. We've had lots of snow recently, and now it's raining. I snapped a few pics of the car without washing it. I haven't washed the car in at least 3 weeks. I'm very surprised in how this wax is holding up! Considering the can is 10 ounces, it's a real bargain durability wise. I'm not sold on the looks, but it's not too bad.

Completed - Long Term Test - 3M Perfect-it Show Car Paste Wax

April 3, 2008 - Needs Washed It's only been 6 days since I last washed this. Where the hell has my wife been taking this thing? We'll see what things are like after washing.

April 3, 2008 - Test for Beading Whoa, what a drastic difference. I'm no scientician, but I would bet that the wax has flown the coupe. The water just sat there. No sheeting, beading, dripping or drying. I'm really surprised how the wax just gave up. I wasn't able to see the wax degrade or give any sign of failing.

April 3, 2008 - It's all over now. This test was started on November 23, 2007, about 4 1/2 months of winter conditions. The wax has lasted much longer than I anticipated, and performed quite well. I would rate the looks as slightly above average, and the application was very easy. For 12 bucks you get enough wax for a fleet of school buses. It's quite a bargain and a decent value.
