Hello all, I have been saving money and gift cards for a heavy duty extension cord. I want a 12 gauge one for a shop vaccum. I have gift cards to lowes, and home depot. What brand would You reccomend and should I shell out money for the 3 outlet cord ?

Yellow Jacket cords are great.....pricey but worth it.

And avaiable at Lowes.

Utilitech has a 3 outlet one for 69,99 and a regular for 51.99 what would you reccomend i do? I have a shop vac.but I might want to use a leaf blower for drying and other stuff. Should I get the three outlet ?

I have a couple Home Depot Husky brand (50 and 100 ft) cords. I believe this is their mid-grade outdoor rated cord. They work fine but cannot say anything special about them. The jacket does seem to scuff easily.

pass on the 3 outlet.......you can purchase a 3 way seperate for like 12 bucks......

get yourself a good cord and a 3 way....if anything happens to the 3 way your only out 12 bucks......if you get the 3 outlet cord your out 70 bucks....make sense?

Thinking about this one
Shop Utilitech 50-ft 12-Gauge Outdoor Contractor Extension Cord at Lowes.com

Reasonable and got good reviews. I also like that is yellow so I can see it

Thats a good cord.......just went to the truck and looked at mine thats what I have.....I've had "yellow Jacket" brand cords in the past and purchased them at lowes....looks like they don,t carry them anymore...I guess I never noticed the packageing or difference in manufacturer.

I go through a lot of extension cords( have to be OSHA commpliant) in my line of work (construction).....any nick in the jacket could lead to $1000's in fines.

That cord will last you a long time.

I am also thinking of some from home depot. What would you reccomend that is 12/3 50ft ?

Ive seen brands like tasco, rigid, stanley and husky at home depot. What do you say that I stay away from ?

Keep an eye out for a sale ... both stores (Lowes, HD) often have a good one on discount.

Just bought mine at Lowe's.....now that I have a Master Blaster that needs a 20amp circuit and heavy duty cord to run properly.....$70.00

What one did you buy, I have alot less money to lowes, but I want to get the best for my money. I need 50 to 100 feet (still deciding and 12 g

Im thinking about a us wire and cable one as its usa made, thoughts?

That cable is good cable for the money. Very soft, will not kink, and will lay flat.

Go 14AWG for 50 ft. as the voltage drop is extremely minimal at this length on a quality cord. No problem running DAs and rotaries. At a 100ft and you should get 12AWG to meet the needs of most vacuums and hot water extractors.

If you want something higher end and more robust, the "Froghide" extensions are the best. Above that is a SJOOW cable that you see in the commerical and industrial environments.

I have a 100ft custom SJOOW cable that is abut 20 years old. Used and abused by contractors on hundreds of jobs. It is still going strong, but would be overkill in a auto detailing environment.

I have a few of these that work very well. You can choose your color and have custom lettering on the cable so that it doesn't mysteriously walk away.

Im definately going for the 100 ft us wire and cable cord at 12/3. It is reasonably priced, usa made and we be great for a shop vaccum and other needs. I dont need more or less (whatever way you want to put it) gauge as Im not running anything stronger than a shop vaccum .

Great price indeed, I'd also get the reel, 100' will be a bear to coil up!
