I love beadmaker because it provides some protection and helps w the drying process. so as long as i wash a couple times a month i've always got protection on the paint.

however on my wife's newish car (which is black) it's leaving blotches all over the place.

Looking for suggestions on another product for basic protection for a DD.

3d bead it up. I buy it by the gallon. Adds gloss, slick easy to use, can use on anything, not expensive epecially when buying by the gallon. Smells amazing

Make sure your are not OVER applying bead maker on the paint. A mist or two on each panel is enough. If your dousing the surface then your using too much. And also make sure you are not spraying the entire car down and then coming back to mop up. Mist each panel at at time and dry.

You could also dilute bead maker. Take an empty spray bottle, pour some bead maker in it and add 10% water and see how the streaking is. If streaking is less then continue to add a little more water until you get the right ratio.

But if your using BM as a drying aid and the vehicle is wet then its already being diluted on the surface and it technically *shouldn't* streak unless your just applying way too much.

3D Bead it up is outstanding! If using for a detail spray, you may want to dilute it 2 or 3 to 1 (2-3 water to 1 3D).

Anything would be an upgrade over bm- i never had any good results with it, it was toast after a week or one good wash

Try PA cosmic spritz

You have me confused with Budgetplan1

He chose a good username since he had to budget to afford the Polish Angel and Kamikaze products along with all of the other coatings he played with. :)

If wanting to try PA and using atleast once a month try rapid wax or PA Presto.

3D bead it up seems to be a forum favorite and you can trust these guys.

OGDrying aid and Adam’s slick and slide also get good reviews and all 3 of these products are BM competitors.

For the drying aid and adding a quick boost of Gloss, I have Tac Systems Shinee Wax and DreamMaker for my black car. Product for white in this category i will probably be ordering PA Presto.

I was just about to mention those, I use the OG version and like it a lot.

Another that surprised me is Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer. Very easy to use, although it does lack the scent of Bead Maker.

I am a huge fan of Technicians Choice Ceramic Detail Spray as well as Xtreme Solutions Topper. Both of these products feel very slick under the towel as you dry, leave a nice gloss, smell amazing, and are a good value if you buy by the gallon.

+1

Super slick and excellent as a drying aid.

 Surely was a fun few years! These days though, far less products on the shelf at home. We're moving this weekend so I packed up the Care Car stuff and aside from durable items like polishers and pads (none of which I've bought since Winter 2021) I had 7 bottles to move of things I use reasonably frequently. Far cry from the multiple cabinets, shelves of stuff....and the large monthly CC bills as well! Still, fun stuff and in part likely responsible for were I have the opportunity to go each day now...so it was really vocational training, no? Perhaps I can get a retroactive tax credit on all I spent.

It was definitely a journey for you and I appreciate that you brought us along to learn as well. Appreciate all you shared with us and as you say, the experience you gained that you continue to share.

Surely you spent enough to get out of paying any taxes for at least a year. LOL!

When ya consider all I got out of it, mostly the people both in person on on-line, twas' certainly a bargain. I still look forward to firing up Autopia and Autogeek each day to see what familiar names and new users are up to these days, detailing-related or not.

Megs HCD is one of the best beading products I ever used. This is how Gyeon CD should be.
