I'm looking for a economical polish I can use on my sparkling sparkling graphite metallic 2007 BMW 328i. I'm planning to use to use a polish maybe 1Z Einszett Paint Polish and then Poorboy's Black Hole Show Glaze and top it off with Collinite 845.

What do you guys think of that? This will be my first time using my PC XP so I'm kind of new to all this. The only experience I have is using Mother's 3 step by hand these past years.

Any suggestions on a good polish? I was thinking of picking up either the Optimum Hyper Polish Spray or the 1Z Einszett Paint Polish but if you guys have any suggestions please do share. I've also heard great things about Meguiar's #205 but I heard it doesn't finish as good.

You didn't mention if you would be claying the car. I suggest that you do. Also, you didn't mention anything about the condition of the paint. Do you have a lot of swirls?

I don't see why you would need a dedicated glaze step just yet. Without any additional information I would say start off with one of these to replace you Step 1 and Step 2 products:

- Menzerna P106FA (SF4000)
- Duragloss 501/601 combo
- Blackfire Total Polish & Seal
- Poorboys Pro Polish 2

Blackfire and Menzerna is made for ceramic clearcoat finishes so correction-wise this may be the way to go (Menzerna being stronger). Duragloss and Poorboys have abrasive and chemical cleaners in them so you will get more cleaning ability and less correction compared to BF and Menz. No matter which product you choose, it will be the technique you use with the PCXP that will generate success.

Depending on your preference and once you see the paint after the above step, if you want you can apply Mothers Step 2. As a dedicated sealant Step 2 is very good, and it also has some glaze/filling properties as well. Again, you may not need it but suffice to say Step 2 has a place on my shelf always.

Once you complete the above then top with 1-2 coats of 845 and you are set for quite awhile.

For economical, I'd suggest M-205. I don't get why people say it doesn't finish that well. I think those people aren't working it long enough, aren't applying enough to their pad, are using the wrong pad or are using too fast of an arm speed while polishing with 205. For finishing, I've not been able to see much if any difference in the achievable gloss between m-205 worked correctly and PO85RD which requires more technique to break down the abrasives. Both work well but 205 is cheaper and much easier to work with. It is however a lot more oily so cleaning pads on the fly with a towel is a good idea. IMO 85RD just isn't worth the extra time or money.

The 205 will level some light to moderate swirls too, even on the hardest clears.

To each his own though.

Dave, I couldn't agree more! :props:

In correct pad priming or pad selection is more often then not the root cause for dissatisfaction with a polishing product. Many times I see someone just apply a few dots of product to a fresh pad and have at it....

Pad priming is an important step to ensure product performance. I see there's a few spray pad primers on the market now but I haven't tried any but I wonder how they compare to the traditional way of priming?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Now to figure out which one to use...
I will be using Trix and claying the car before all this.

The Blackfire Total Polish & Seal is a AIO isn't it? I already have Poorboy's Polish w/ Wax so I don't think I need another 1 step. The Menzerna P106FA (SF4000) is too expensive and I prefer spending less than I would have to. I haven't really read much about the Duragloss 501/601 but it does seem like an extra step I can avoid.

I'll try to do a test spot with PB P-w-C today on the trunk and see how that turns out. I'll still either pick up Megs 205, WG Finishing Glaze, one of the other polish suggested here.

Would you guys consider Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 a Light Swirl Remover or a Cleaner Glaze?

Just wondering why no one commented on the 1Z Einszett Paint Polish? Is there someone wrong with it?
