so this winter i got a little busy and neglected to wash/wax my car as often as i would have liked. i have some pretty bad swirl marks (at least i think they are bad) but i havent been able to find a good visual guide on this site for how heavy of a compound to use for different levels of swirl marks.

i found this picture in one of the how to guides which mentions that its a "serious case of swirl marks"

to me they look pretty much what i am seeing on my car but i wouldent call them a serious case.

im basically looking for pictures of swirl marks next to which compound to use. i know i have very thin paint (2006 BLACK mazdaspeed 6) so im a little worried about how much material i may be removing. i know i need to use the least amount but i dont want to buy 3-4 different levels of compound to figure out what i need.

ultimately im looking to do everything by machine (i have a rotary but no where near expert at it) with a good base correction that i can maintain with some sealant/wax monthly.

i spoke to someone on the chat service and they recommended the Menzerna Nano Polish PO 106 FA with a white CCS pad followed by a coat of the wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant on the grey CCS pad. i just want a nice smooth surface with lots of water beading without doing any damage.

can anyone add to or correct my ideas above before i go and order everything?

TIA!!!

I used Meguiars D300 (correction) and D301 (polish). This pic was taken before a second pass with the D300 and before I applied D301. If the swirls aren't too bad, you may want to try XMT 360 (AIO). Seems to work pretty good for the lighter stuff. I still follow up with a quality sealant after using both methods. Hope this helps in your search for something

Careful with the rotary, add pressure and slow down.
