Hi everyone, I have a VW with hard paint and some heavy swirls. The only compound I currently own is Meguiars UC and its just taking too long to knock the swirls down. I only have six orange pads and six white pads. I'm not ready to invest in microfiber pads for cutting, maybe down the road. But for now, could someone suggest a heavy cutting compound like M105 to use with my current orange pads? I was also looking at 3D AAT Rubbing compound or 3D One Hybrid (not sure if that one will cut enough). Thanks

3D ACA 500 if you're going to do a two step and refine the finish after the ACA.

Carpro Ultracut is another VERY good compound. Won't cut quite as much as ACA but will finish down better

Looks like 3D 500 removes P1000 sanding marks and 3D AAT 501 removes P1200 sanding marks. From what I can see online people say 501 finishes better and 500 can be a pain to work with but it does have superior cut. I guess that's the tradeoff.

I have never had issues using ACA 500 and if he has used Meguiars 105 then ACA 500 will be a breeze.

Try Menzerna FG400. If you want even more aggressive Menzerna FG300. I have had great success with either. Their Polishing products are great too.

I also clear wet sanding surfaces with FG 400 on a rotary and purple hybrid wool pad….very quick…..

You will not enjoy M105 with its short cycle and dust.

3D One is not going to have the cut your looking for.

3D ACA 500 and Sonax Cutmax are two very good compounds. As is CarPro UltraCut and Meguiar’s M110.

The foam pad may not be enough even with one of the above compounds. I would consider the Rupes blue wool pads besides microfiber pads. Even the Rupes yellow wool pads work good with a compound.

Ended up going with the 3D AAT 501, finishes a little better than the 500 but with similar cut. Thanks guys

I used a lot of 501 at work. I did not like it with wool or microfiber pads on a DA.

I found it to gum up the pads very quickly. But, it cut really nice with the microfiber before the gumming up.

I do like it on foam pads though, especially the orange cutting foams..
