The Lotus Evora has an optional Star Sheild product that adheres to the front panels of the vehicle and protects from stone chips etc... The Star Sheild matches the black metallic paint of the car. Can this surface of the star Sheild be buffed with compounds as normal paint surface or should it be avoided?

Thanks
Barry

I have not used that exact film but as with many other clear bra materials, I would not use any compounds on them. All that's needed is to clean them and seal them. Most "good" quality films have a resistance to bug acids and fallout thus should be in good shape.

Like pdqgp i don't have firsthand experience with that product but i too shy away from compounds and heavy abrasive products on PPF material. Moderate to light abrasives seem to brighten them up nicely without gouging into the material for me. And tape up the edges to avoid any product getting worked into the edges.

Nice car Barry! :dblthumb2:

Caring for a clear bra, paint protection film, etc is pretty basic. Avoid using anything abrasive on it. That's the main thing to remember.

Otherwise, carefully wash it and apply a high quality spray wax once or twice a month. UV protection for this material is critical. I would suggest Optimum Car Wax.

When it comes time to polish the panels that are not protected by this material, take 10 or 15 minutes to tape off the edges so you avoid "creaming out" the film.
