The highest end wax I used was Nu Finish. Spray a washcloth with Simple Green, not diluted. Do not get the rag saoked, just damp. Apply Nu Finish to the washcloth and start rubbing it in circles or back and forth.........
Let it dry over night and remove with 2500 grit sandpaper.........you will have a "NU Finish"

Just not the kind you want......
lol...JK......:p
I used Souveran....like it, but don't use it on Clients' cars. I save it for mine..

Forgot that....Or you can do a 25/25 blend of the 2 and 50 of vaseline.
Talk about slick!!!!!!!!! I could park a truck in a Dog House!!!!:D

Talking about Turtle Wax, the Platinum Ultra Gloss is a killer looking excellent LSP. Great spreadability, easy buffout, and a wonderful appearance.

Turtle wax excellent? Im surprised...

I just had a horrible experience with them and I am going to try to get them to repaint parts of my car.

I saw their gold series soap at bjs and it was $10 for a gallon so i figured what the heck ill try it its cheap and if i like it i can say i found a cheap OTC way to get soap.

So I used it, and was very satisfied with cleaning ability and the shine it left, I didnt even need to QD after the wash!

The next day I bring my car in the garage to clean the interior, slap on a quick sealant etc and what do I see? It ate through part of my clearcoat on my roof and where suds were dripping down from my drivers side mirror it eroded the clear in the shape of dripping suds!!!!!!!

I am going to have to have my roof and drivers side door repainted, its barely noticeable but i can run my finger over it and feel the depression.

I am calling them today, very angry DONT USE GOLD CLASS SOAP!

Gold Class is Megs, are you talking about the Turtle Wax Platinum wash? It couldn't have eaten through clearcoat, you would need an strong acidic product to eat through that fast. Something else happened.

Did you try washing/qd'er again or using an APC? The marks are pry just outlines of dried soap that will wipe off.

Its not undried soap and its turtle wax gold series I was staring at the bottle for half an hour while on the phone with turtle wax.

I was examining it for a while yesterday, it is definitely not dried soap i can not stress that enough and I will take pics soon.

Theyre sending me a kit in which I need to give a product sample and fill out some stuff.

That is odd, to eat through clearcoat that fast, that wash would have to be seriously acidic.

Well it certainly did, even if i didnt rinse it all off which I did and it shouldnt eat through my clear like it did just by letting it dry, a car soap is supposed to be safe even if it does dry on by accident.

But I rinsed it off, and someone else was helping me too so they will testify that I rinsed it off.

I dont wanna have to pay myself for the amount it will take to get the quality paint job that my car came with (im guesing mercedes have very good paint jobs? even though there is a little orange peel) so if they dont offer to fix it I will have to take legal action.

The problem with turtle wax is its high use of silicones to add wetness. In most cases these are cheap bad silicones, as the product was designed as a price point product for mass purchase.

Hey, I didn't start this thread!!!
What is up with that??????

I posted this comment in the High end wax thread.......

Mods?????? What's up?

this post took on a different route ... nothing to do with high end waxes, so it was split off into two. You were lucky enough to be the one that took it in another direction I suppose ...

This appears to be a topic best seperated from highend waxes as we are looking to consumer grade mass outlet products now !!

Did you read the post on turtle wax wash eating through clearcoat above, your thoughts? Can't see how, would have to strongly acidic.

I have never to date seen a car wash eat thru paint or clearcoat, that said, I dont leave it on paint longer than needed.

I do remember back in the late 80's were the first water based clearcoats were introduced and went bad causing flaking and such. GM had to pay for alot of repaints. Water, weather and even soap helped decay the original binders or holding agents. That was however 20 years ago.
