While i was polishing out a jaguar this past weekend my Rotary started to vibrate and as soon as I lifted the machine off the car this was what was left of the backing plate no damage to the car .

Lucky indeed. What brand is that so I don't buy it?

1 plate that breaks doesn't mean every plate will do the same. Every product fails.

How often it fails determines if it is a good product or not. You can't judge something based on 1 account.

You have a point. But that isnt the first Lake Country product that has violently failed. They are going down hill, just my opinion.

Adam your an animal :pc7424::pc7424::pc7424:

Glad no damage was done !!!!

Hey Adam,

In all my years using a rotary I never had a backing plate come apart like that! I'm glad that neither you or the car was damaged when that thing fell apart....

You did get lucky! Did you fill a wobble?
Yes I did just in time

I agree I only posted it to show what happened I didn't make any comment on the product .

You know the saying Bobby S---T happens lol I was only running it at 900RPM and very little pressure that's why I felt something wasn't right

I had a LC DA backing plate pull the same trick with me last year. When I ordered a new one I noticed they had beefed them up a bit more with the steal plate and 3 rivots

Adam, I'm glad No Cat Was Injured In Making This Thread, LOL. Skillful catch, not luck, I'd say! I guess you can try out one of the flexible bp's now. I love mine.

I apologize for the inconvienence. That particular part number we have sold about 2700 worldwide and this is the first issue I have heard of or seen. Please contact me at the factory ([email protected]) and I will take care of this issue.

Way to go LC!

I almost bet they'll be wanting it back to figure out how it failed and how to avoid it in the future.

Adam

One mistake I've made (on more then one occasion,) is remove (yank) the pad while the BP is still warm. I'm not a rocket scientist, but I've come to the conclusion that by doing this I'm weakening the BP (and pad backing) each time I do this. If you must remove the pad while everything is still warm, do it gently
