I'm doing a M105/205 combo with 6.5 LC HT pads. Using cyan at 5k on a gg DA. I'm trying different ways of applying to lower down dusting but still getting a decent amount. My two questions are; What technique is good for minimal dusting? If you do get dusting what do you do about it prior to M205?

The paint is on my escalade and its my first time using a DA!

105 does dust a little and how much product are you using? If your using to much of any product it will dust.

Also why is it so hard to buff off?

I primed pad and do 4 small dots until I start seeing It clear up when working it

Hard to see from the picture but i took it out in the sun and it looks like holograms? Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? Does the m205 remove them?

That's good news lol. Do you guys wash or blow off the paint prior to M205 in the case of good dusting?

If you have distilled water or a qd, spray your pad every once in awhile to prevent some dusting.
Also if it gets hard to remove is because your working it too long. Try not to do as many passes

Awesome. Should I wipe it down with a qd or maybe wash prior to m205 to deal with the dusting?

Most detailers prefer to wash after compounding. To remove the dust and help remove the residue that compounding leaves behind to make sure its not hiding anything.
Unless you use IPA or CP eraser during correction

It's a compound, so it will dust.
From the above statement your using way to much.
you shouldn't have anything left on the paint.

You don't have to do anything after using 105 except wipe,
The only reason to wash the car after using 105 is to get the dust out of the cracks.

You can go directly to 205 after 105.

So use less, wash the car, most of us do, then polish.

Holograms are crated by you and not the 105, slow your arm speed down and only work a 2'x2' area at a time.

For the longest time M105 was my go to compound and I just learned to live with the dusting. But imo today there are so many other great choices, such as M101, FG400, WG Uber Compound and the Sonax Polish Line that why go to all that trouble trying to make M105 work? If you're a Megs fan, go for the M101 - utterly fantastic compound and probably has the most cut out of anything else on the market today. And guess what, it doesn't dust. :props:

It's actually my first time using the Megs compound. They were a squeeze that I found locally(thank god too) to correct my ext this weekend. I had already planned and made it a three day process all together. I had the BF SRC finish polish(should of gotten the compound as well) thinking it would be enough to cut down the swirls but me being a newb, I didn't know that the GM clearcoats were hard. So in retrospect, I will probably use these up then try the BF SRC compound to compliment the Finishing polish that I have then try the Wolgang o Menzerna series.

I read that some people don't have so much dusting, so I need to try a few different techniques for the best outcome and use up those 32oz bottles lol.
