Hey guys, need some opinions.

I have to clean up a 2003 Nissan Maxima with dark red paint. It has some oxidation, scratches, swirls, bird poop marks, etc, typical of car that gets stuff laid and slid across the hood and trunk, went thru too many automatic car washes, etc.......sorry don't have pics.

I was able to clean up about 1/2 of the minor problems with clay bar, Pinnacle Advanced Swirl remover using a 6.5" Lake Country CCS orange pad, Flex 3401, speed 4-5, along with slow movement and a decent amount of pressure. With that said, I kinda knew going in, that I probably didn't have anything aggressive enough.....I generally don't need that on my own vehicles, this one belongs to a friend.

I'm stepping up to a M105/M205 combo to fix the issue, because I now have that in my arsenal. I'm not interested in buying a bunch of different stuff to accomplish the task. It will be 105/205 combo, Flex 3401 with 5.5" backing plate. My foam pad options (all Lake Country CCS), one yellow, 3 orange, 3 white, along with 2 Meguiars 6" microfiber pads. I think I really only need to use the M105 on the hood, trunk, and top, along with some spot touch up in other areas, guessing 205 will correct the rest.

In your opinion, which pads should I use,

Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Set up 2 test spots. One with M105/white and one with M105/orange. You are comparing level of gloss, just correction ability. Give each a score between 1-5. Then, follow both test spots with M205/white. Now, give a score on each for gloss and clarity. Next steps should be clear when you reach the end of the test cycle.

One thing I didn't see you have is any black pads. You may need a couple of them.

I believe i have one black pad, would is use that for 205 if I don't like the finish with white?

Thanks for the help!

yes, if you still have hazing or micro swirls then i would definately use the black pad w/ m205 and see how that works for you.

Correction.... you are *not* comparing level of gloss......... just correction ability.
