Hey guys I'm currently working on removing swirls and a few scratches from my girlfriends black mustang. I'm using M105 with a green bad and M205 with a white pad with a PC. When I began the cars paint was rather hot but the sun went down so I thought it would be ok to begin compounding. I just cant seem to get any work time out of this stuff and its drying hard as a rock in about 30 seconds. What is the deal? My M205 is working fine and have no problems with the work time. This is the first time using this combo. Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance!Feed back please

May need to let the paint cool more. Is the 205 removing the swirls? If so stick with that.

Are you using old M105 (rotary use only) or the new DA approved M105?

If it is the latter, are you priming the pad using the KBM?

The 205 is removing all the swirls effortlessly but there are some scratches I would like to use the 105 for. I think it is a cooling issue as well. Just wanted to get some input from people who have used it before. What is the work time with these products? 2-3 mins? 2" per second? 3-4 passes like everything else?

yes it is the new 105 and no prep on the pad. Never heard of it being a big deal. Different with 105?

this makes sense. Perhaps my pad is just soaking up most of the product right away leaving almost nothing to work with. Thanks I'll try it

Had the same problem last weelend doing 93 vette when I start it was overcast 65 deg . The car was in rough shape had to use diamond cut first then 105 when I got to hood .I had blue skies no shade the hood temp was 146 deg on laser temp. I basically had do small area wipe with wet micro fiber, then with dry mf area by area . The 105 dries quicker in the heat reducing the work time greatly. The 205 is better I believe because it has more polish and a finer compound. Other than some fiberglass cracks the car came out great.

The Prodoct I Used
Megs Diamond Cut\Solo yellow Wool
Megs 105/orange
Megs 205/white
3m Ultrafina/Black
Megs 21 Syn Seal/blue/Indigo Bonnet for removal
And I Drank almost a Gallon of water ,It Took almost 6hrs cause the heat.

I put the car under my canopy today and let it cool for a few hours. It was working much better plus I primed the pad so I think that helped out alot too. Thanks for all the replies! Mustang came out like new. Also didnt know that 105 could take out 2000 grit sand marks in one pass with a PC! That is some goooood stuff.

The more I use it, the better results I seem to be getting. I'm almost getting my paint in LSP ready condition with just M105. Not quite but close.
