So, after seeing a few of these Youtube videos a couple weeks ago, I knew I had to get a small horse hair brush for my Mytee Firebird steamer.

Problem was Mytee does not make such an attachment and sounds like they have no plans of making any. So I decided to make my own.

Wasn't exactly sure how I was going to do it. Initially I thought I could just cut the top off a horse hair brush made for another steam cleaner and glue it to the nylon brush attachment for the Mytee after I cut the bristles off of it.

So I started browsing the internet for similar horse hair brushes. Most of them were way to expensive for my liking. I'm talking 30$ for a single brush here. But then I found a HH (horse hair) shop vac attachment on amazon for 5 bucks. Description said it was 32 mm. I measured the face of the nylon brush from the Mytee and it too was nearly 32 mm! Winna Winna horse hair dinnah!!

A week or so later the HH brush arrived. I quickly realized the 32mm was the measurement of the shop vac hose diameter and things would not work out as easily as I first planned.

But that's ok. I quickly came up with a new plan. A better plan. I started by cutting off the nylon brushes from the Myee using a Dremel with a cutting wheel.

After that I drilled out the holes. Not exactly sure what size the drill bit is just found it lying around in the garage.

I should have marked my drill bit and accidentally drilled to far in a few of the holes. Not a big deal but it made the next step just a tad messier than it needed to be.

Now for the fun part! Just kidding there's nothing fun about it. This is where I had to cut a small bunch of HH off the shop vac attachment and glue it in the holes. I initially tried using gorilla glue as I had some at the house already. Gorilla glue does NOT work. Krazy glue however works awesome. In fact if anyone decides to do this on their own I recommend they use Krazy glue. I'm sure other adhesives could work but this stuff dries quickly and is super strong.

Just keep in mind that if you do drill all the way through some of the holes Krazy glue will drip out and get all over the place. Common sense but of course I forgot

So when it's all said and done you end up with something that looks like this.

And this is how many bristles I used from the other brush.

The glue dried very quickly so I decided to give it a trial run on this speaker grill. I'll tried to clean it several times previously with the pressure attachment only on the Mytee. It looks like it comes clean at first but after the moisture evaporates I see the dirt has not been lifted.

End result ..

Tried it on a few more things around the house.

And the brush after its maiden voyage ..

So so far so good. Seems like the HH bristles tolerate the heat fairly well and won't melt. Also the Krazy glue seems to be doing a good job as well. I shed a couple bristles here and there but I suspect those weren't glued down well to begin with. Hopefully this thing stands the test of time. Can't wait for spring to get here so I can really put this brush to good use! :dblthumb2:

Ha ha ha I wish I would have thought of that!

Love it. If you can't find something you want, make it yourself.

Thanks. I wish Mytee or some other company would start producing these. A triangle brush for the Mytee would be nice as well. I guess the demand isn't there though.
