I think your prices are tooo low when you atart getting into the larger packages.. I charge MUCH more and customers pay it, put a price on your work.

I also think they are a bit too low, could depend on where you live though

well, where i live there are detail shops that do a complete detail starting at $20 and go up to $150. but they dont wax the car. they just wash, polish, clean interior, and windows.
i have had maby 5 or 10 people decline me because they just care if there car is shiny. but saying that about the detail shops. there is a mobile detailer on the other side of town(his copmpany name is obsessive detail) and he charges alittle more than me. i figured if i charge less id get all his throw away customers

Don't base your prices off others.. my prices are twice as much as the local wash chains but you have to let customer decide if there vehicle is worth it to get a "true detail".. at the wash chain they don't care about quality but rather quantity and the guys are doing it because its a "job".. they could care less honestly. I love when customers call and try and compare me I laugh in the back of my mind and I will explain to them briefly the difference for about 30 seconds and they will either take it or they wont. The ONLY way I give a discount is my 10% military/services/armed forces discount, otherwise they either pay the price or they don't get there vehicle done by me, simple as that.

You have pride in what you do, if you are on this forum you are obviously using GREAT products compared to the wash shops locally I'm sure. Make sure you include what products you use when explaining to your customer the difference, and refer them to a website (if you have one) to show them your work and the quality of the job your perform. I never try and persuade the customer I just give them facts. Hope it helped.

thanks il take that advice. and i offer the same kind of discount. but i do 10% for family also

so you are saying i should start my complete detail package at 200 for small cars and go up or on the larger vehicles charge more

thats more like it :) (in my eyes)

i charge regular cars 2000-2500 SEK thats about 250-310 Dollars a car.
from time to time i get people that comes in "but that guy charges only 125Dollars (1000SEK) . and as alamoautodetail sad, i explain for them the differens sometime they get pissed off and goes to the other guy . then they can stay there.

(SEK is Swedish Crowns)

i only detail on the side and I offer 3 packages.

75 gets you a basic wash and wax. of course I do the windows, tires, wheels and light interior detail

125 get's above plus clay and an AIO before LSP.

175-225 gets you the full 2 step polishing + sealant or carnauba.

engine detail and larger vehicles at addl cost.

I came up up with this figuring I wanted to get $25 an hour for my time. I have a full time job so this means I do this on a weekend or I take 'vacation' day if it's worth while.
