i wan to step into the world of rotary but not sure wich to buy. I've used the makita and liked it nice and light too. But dewalt has great rep and flex sounds like the best of both but i don't know much about them. I'm sure I'll get lot of opinions on all 3 but thats what i want ill sort it out in the end thanks for advice

If you can wait just a bit, I am doing a full writeup on the Flex VVB rotary. 10A motor with QUALITY construction. Ill be posting it in the reviews section.

I've not used the Flex rotary but have the Dewalt, Makita, and Flex VGR 3401. I prefere the Makita over the Dewalt and the 3401 is in a whole different catagory. The Dewalt is nice too but I like being able to dial the buffer down to 600 rpm's and it seems much louder than the Makita. I really don't think you can go wrong with either of the 3 though.

thats 1 of the features i liked too going down to 600 i thought it good for spreading then dial up to your working rpm

Dewalt is the way to go, the best made tool out of the three. Even though it does not dial down to 600 rpm all you have to do is lightly squeeze the trigger and it will go as slow as you like. I have had my Black and Deckers which are the Dewalt 849's for over 25 years and have had zero problems with them.

I like the Flex 3401 for random orbital, and would have picked the Flex rotary over my Hitachi had it been offered then. It was originally the lightest rotary, best warranty, and priced right too.

i was in the same boat as you a while back; after doing my research i figured the makita 9227c was the one. i found with it that noone had any negative things to say once they owned it. i can't recall for sure, but i think that it had the most control, the widest range of speed and the most powerful motor when compared to the rest.

plus...it's japanese ; )

whatever....i love mine.

thats what I love about the FLEX VVB. Has the powerful 10A motor with a solid feel like the dewalt.

great stuff guys keep it coming. price is not a huge factor but the flex lk603vvb did catch my eye at 169.99. considering im going to get a new pad set the extra $$ could come in handy. then again the makita does come with its own bag:-)

ill post my review tommorow. Maybe that will help you decide. Some things I can say about the VVB:

The motor is very powerful like the makita. It also has one hell of a drivetrain in it. It is not breaking down anytime soon.

It is also VERY well balanced. You can balance it on a finger where the head meets the handle and it wont move. Again, very sturdy construction. Ill upload a few pics.

Ok guys after much debate I have made a decision...... FLEX is the winner it really came down to price and once I found it had a progressive trigger I had to go for it thats one of the things I liked about Makita. Thanks for the input I'll give feedback after I use it sometime next week (scheduled to arrive on thursday):buffing:
