Hi everyone! My name is Matt, I'm 27 and I live in Upstate NY. I have been a long time lurker here on the forum. I always seem to end up here from search results, looking for answers. It's finally time I give back and add to the forum! As a car enthusiast I have always been extremely passionate about clean cars. As a child I can remember applying countless coats of wax to my parent’s cars, looking for the “ultimate shine”. My detailing obsession was fueled by my parents who always seemed to be buying and trading used cars. This allowed me to develop many skills and methods, many of what I still use today. After demonstrating my work on my parents' cars, I would occasionally "clean" family and friends vehicles for some extra cash.
When I finally got my first car, a used 2000 Ford Mustang, I knew my obsession with detailing was here to stay! I spent weeks transforming a well used car into one that could be mistaken for new. The dramatic before and after effect of properly cleaning and detailing a car is something that still excites me to this day. As I have grown older I have developed a passion for American Muscle and Sports cars. I've been lucky enough to own a few more Mustangs and a Corvette over the past few years. Fast forward to today and I currently own a Black 2014 Mustang GT and a Yellow 2005 Hummer H2.
This past year I decided to begin detailing beyond the scope of friends and family. I have started doing this part time out of my garage. With that said, I have really been looking to improve upon my skills, upgrade my equipment, gather all the knowledge possible and offer the best service to my customers. This is where Mike Phillips, Autogeek, and their massive knowledge base has helped a great deal. I am very excited about the forum, as it's filled with an immense amount of information and some great people! Even though its taken me a few years to create an account, I finally made it!
