I purchased a pre owned challenger t/a previous owner polished hood and appears to of added a sealant. How do I remove all the waxes and sealants? I want to return the finish back to matte.

Update* I tried APC, IPA, Dawn and just purchased duplicolor paint prep.

Duplicolor paint prep is pretty harsh stuff. Don't go near plastic.
I would go for Klean-Strip Prep-All.

I saw the photo you posted on the facebook group. The thing about a matte finish is that it loses its matte appearance once it is polished and then it can not be restored back to matte.

so should I hit it with fast finish or similar to try and get the shine to blend? Or just polish it completely out ?

You could try. Here is Meguiar’s stance on fast finish with matte paint.

Sounds like the previous owner did too much damage to it. Once a matte finish is polished there is no going back.

You could try to have it wrapped in matte vinyl.

can I polish it out the rest of the way? Or is that not how it works?

I’m not sure. I never polished a matte finish. Hopefully someone who has chimes in.

Post photos. Tapatalk makes it easy to do that.

I don’t believe you can polish out matte to then hav a gloss look. I agree with Guz and just have it wrapped. You could also plasti dip it.
