Recently bought a used set BBS TRD Rims. They are finished in Matte black. After cleaning them with multiple different wheel cleaners, they still have a white ish residue on the face of the rims and some hard brake dust that is embedded in the finish. Is there a safe iron remover that is OK to use on Matte finished rims.

No real advice on the products and I've never had to deal with matte wheels. To me that type of finish seems like it would be difficult to revive once they are neglected and stuff like brake dust gets baked in.

Is the finish the same in the barrel as the face of the wheels. If it is, you might be able to take a TINY bit of something like Brown Royal and try it there in a location what wouldn't be visible if things don't go well.

I've use iron remove on matte ....but my experience is a matte powder coat (base coat is color coat, clear coat is matte).....

Why not just do a test spot on the inner barrels.

Unfortunately, that's part of the deal with matte/satin wheels, regardless of what chemical or coating that's been applied.

Iron remover is fine, but will unlikely solve the issue.
