For those who dont know,
this is the interior of a 2003 Mazda6.

If you notice the compartment that has the tv screen in it, that is not stock. So does anyone have any idea of how much that would cost me to put that in there?
And what I could include? What is important for me is to have that display navigation as well as possibly include an input so I could plug in my mp3 player into it and play music via the car speakers.

Thanks

I'm guessing roughly $1500-$2000 for fabrication and installation and around $1200-$2000 for the parts depending on what system you go with.

seeing how AG dosen't sell electronics i think i'm ok to tell you that Crutchfield sells some great stuff and they have great customer service like AG.

Looks like they used a Garmin and just installed into the spare glove box.It isn't motorized there isn't enough room for it to slide down. They made of made a base for it to sit on and then just pops up ir they just tilt it up . Some of the high end Navs use blue tooth and if it has an input for mps it would be an FM modulated one . But bottom line it just looked they have a plan old Nav standing up in the storage compartment.

Actually there were more pictures of this. It is a carputer and it does fold down.

For that much money it is definately not worth getting it, could get a new for that much.

How much would just putting a GPS into there that I already own cost me or how would I go about doing it?

Also, does anyone know how to go about making a AUX IN in my car?
The car does not come with one stock but I have heard of people finding very simple ways to do it

Since you have the parts, it would still probaly cost around $500-$1000 for fabrication and installation if they have to cut the dash and install hinges. And thats on the low end. Your better off coming up with your own design and making something neat.

Idk if this is considered competition since Autogeek doesn't sell electronics but....Mazda 02+ Auxiliary interface If it breaks the rules just remove it please and thank you. Sorry if it is against the rules I'm still new here.

Thank you for the link i will consider it definately. Got to do some research on this.

When they say connect to car stereo what would i actually be connecting it to? Would i have to open up the dashboard?

Yea you will have to slide the radio out. You won't have to take the entire dash apart though. I've installed many sound systems, and its not as hard as it seems.

Considering I have never done anything of this nature before, although I do understand quite a bit as far as electronics and stuff goes, would it be a bad idea to try to tackle this bymyself?

Nope. The first install that I did was the sub install in my new Camaro. It wasn't bad at all. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Alright thanks so much for the advice. one last question on the site it has an asterisk and says "not compatible with mp3 stereo"

I know what an mp3 is, i know what a stereo is, i do not know what an mp3 stereo is or what they are trying to say there.

This seems pretty simple compared to some of the other methods I have read about people trying so I may try it. Hopefully it has instructions!

Compatibility

Mazda 3 03-08 (*)
Mazda 5 05-07
Mazda 6 03-08 (04 requires change on the radio)
Mazda Miata/MX5 02-08
Mazda MPV 02-08
Mazda Protege 02-03
Mazda RX-8 04-08 (radio firmware v9.55 or later /v10.1 and v9.81 not supported/)
Mazda Tribute 02-06
Mazda BT 50 06-08
Mazda CX-7 07-08 (not navigation)
Mazda CX-9 07-08 (not navigation)
Mazda B-series 03-08 (not navigation)
* Not compatible with MP3 stereo

That's only for the Mazda 3 03-08. And I believe it is a stereo system that plays mp3s from a cd.

Dumb mistake.

Again, thanks for your help. for 65 bucks this is definately a project i will begin working on. hopefully no problems occur but if they do then do you mind if i contact you in the future with a question or two?

You can contact me anytime. Add me as a friend If you want to :).
