So I got a gallon of this last weekend. I had a sampler before that and thats what made me buy the full gallon.
This stuff is easy to apply as just about any QD out there so there are no issues with application. What i really like about it is that it can be used in direct sun on a hot day with zero issues. I made this quick video showing it used in the sun. It was around 80-85 out and just washed the car. Sun was beating down on it for over an hour.
Even if you over apply it still has no issues with removal or streaking in hot sun. I have been using this as a drying aid for quick protection add to her car and I see about 2-3weeks of beading using it that way. Considering its being diluted to some degree from left over water on the paint. I haven't tested its durability yet when using it on dry paint so its getting full effect out of it.
I also find that it does not attract a ton of dust and seems to make metallic flake pop pretty nicely.
On to the video demonstration

Nice little review! I like using D156 when drying!

I use d156 with a damp microfiber towel for my first drying pass whenever I do two bucket method or rinse less washes and it's awesome.

I could use quick detail sprays but d156 acts like a detail spray anyway so I figure I could use the extra protection it should give.

Now, having said that, I wonder if the protection is sacrificed if used as a drying aid. I would imagine the product would be diluted a bit from the standing water.

I use both methods:

1. Spray on wet car and wipe with damp microfiber. Then buff with dry towel.

2. Spray directly on microfiber towel then wipe car then buff to dry with a separate towel.

Which process would be better? Aka which process would yield the least amount of potential marring and allow the product to serve as a good wax or wax booster?

Thanks for the D156 review... :props:

Proof again that it's: Five by Five!!

:)

D156 is crazy good stuff. It even works under 40 degrees with no streaking. If there was a detailing hall of fame, it would be have to be there.

Love this stuff!

Evan.J sent me a sample of this (thanks Evan) and its on par with DG AW for sure but it seems to me that its being put in the catagory of a QD and its not, atleast straight anyways but not sure why you'd wanna cut down a product like this and use it like a QD, its got wax in it, so why do that?

Meg's has really done their homework with this product, good job Barry!

I wasnt saying it was a QD..I was just saying its as easy to use as using a QD..Just spray on wipe off with no streaking even in extreme conditions like high heat

Sorry, I should've just quoted the person whom compared it to a QD and uses it as such. This product is NO QD, that's for sure!

I think the only comparison of D156 with those words is that its as easy to use as a QD

I do love this stuff..... but in another thread about Chemical Guys V7, i was asking about a comparison between the two...

Since i have 3/4 of a gallon left of D156 i dont want to buy one bottle of v7 for $18 which is nearly half the price of the gallon of D156......

Disregarding actual LSP protection and longevity.....I simply want that extra shine pop and lubrocity to resist dust accumulation..... is v7 worth it for those two qualities alone?

Im askin here to find out from veteran D156 users who may have used V7, not intended to hijak

I have a bottle of V7 and it just sits on my shelf.

I've used both I can tell you V7, although good, does not compare to d156 for me.

One, the price of V7 is quote high. Although you can get the gallon size which brings the cost per ounce down.

For usage, I like d156 because it works on any surface at any temp and never, ever streaks for me. V7 streaks for me when it's hot outside. But when it's room temp, V7 is great!

But again, between the two, I'd choose d156 over V7. But V7 is still a fantastic product.

I did not use V7 as a drying aid so I can comment on that.

Oh and ceedog, I believe did a review of ultimate quick wax, which is the same as d156 and he noticed some filling abilities so that's just icing on the cake for me since I have a daily driver and I'd rather hide swirls than to constantly polish my paint.
Hope this helps.

@willtothewrong .... thanks for the input

Dont get me wrong im TOTALLY sold on D156

.... was just curious about the comparison of the qualities of shine and lubrocity versus the V7

For my garage car, V7 is hard to beat. IMO it provides more shine and slickness than D156. However, for my DD have been using D156 and have been quite happy. Beading and longevity have been amazing, it just loses the shine game IMO.

Since V7 has cleaners in it, comparing it to D156 or AW is pointless, one is more of QD w/ sealant qualities and the other 2 are pure protection products. I'll take it a step further and I know I'll catch some heat for this but here it goes, the QD I make up using DG rinseless, infused with KSG (Klasse Sealant Glaze) is better than V7, here's why:

1. Cost...buying a gallon of DG rinseless wash and using the popular ratio for making a QD is cheap, also has AW built into it already as well.

2. Longevity...adding KSG gives it an added "kick"

Sure you need to spend the $40.00 on a gallon but its smarter to do this anyways, I mean you are going to use it to wash your car anways. You would need to also buy the KSG too but you only need 1-2 oz per gallon of made up QD, the rest you can use on your car. Haven't tried KSG yet, here's your chance...you'll be hooked. So you get multiple uses out of 2 different products, BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

Yes I have used V7 and did like using it, very easy to use but at $18.00 for 16 oz's, just doesn't make sense or cents.

I knew Klasse would have a good answer to this.. thanks

I too am a fan of experimentation of tweaking or doctoring certain products to extend or enhance certain properties i want or need from a product that does almost everything i want already
