Meg's D156 vs OCW...some general questions

I recently invested in a good bit of OCW after seeing the level of gloss and 'pop' factor it imparts. However, what I've found is that it's EXTREMELY attractive to dust and pollen. So much so that an unprotected vehicle had less dust/pollen on it than the vehicle with OCW.

So I'm considering switching to d156 for a variety of reasons, one being cost but I'm also wondering if it's a little more anti-static than OCW is.


So those of you who've used both, what's your preference and why?

and, some Carnauba Wax (CW):
-OCW = 1-5 % (CW)
-D156 = “there isn't much (CW) at all“

•LSPs with Carnauba Wax seem to
attract more dust/pollen than, say,
fully synthetic LSPs—but is that due,
solely, to the effects of static electricity?


•One other thing to keep in mind is
the fact that OCW has both UVA and
UVB (patented) absorbers.

-It’d be difficult for me to no longer use
OCW, and give up that extra protection,
because of some dust that settles on the
vehicles between washes. Just to note:

If dust and pollen buildup is the primary reason for switching, going to 100% synthetic ingredients may help. There is no silver bullet out there for solving this issue however (that I know of anyway ).

One relatively inexpensive option to consider would be Ultima Acrylic Spray Wax. This one has that great “pop” you are looking for while keeping the paint super slick. Dust and pollen will have a hard time sticking to the paintwork with this product (at least in theory).

I agree with Bob and Badger: using a Synthetic spray during peak pollen season may help some with dust, but once pollen season is over, OCW is one of the top protecting spray waxes around... don’t throw it to the gutter.
 
Two completelly different products. One is a long durability wax/sealant (OCW) and the other is a synthetic quick wax that only lasts a few days.

If you want to replace it with something else but keep the durability, I would not go with D156, even though I really like that product... to me that is saying something like I don't like Optimum Opti-coat pro, I am thinking of replacing it with CarPro Reload... not the same type of products at all.

The question you should be asking is, what is a good replacement for OCW...

I have not tried the products I will be listing but I am certain they fall in similar product category:

- Adams H2O Guard and Gloss
- Ultima Paint Guard Plus

There are likelly others but I use OCW so I never really researched this subject.
 
There are several products out there that are advertised as anti-static; Finish Kare 425 and Kenotek Showroom Shine immediately come to mind.

UWWP+ and its acrylic counterpart mixed up at their recommended waterless wash ratio allegedly have some anti-static/dust repelling capabilities (haven't really tried it for myself as of yet, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I know this falls more into the full blown sealant category, but Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish has some fantastic dust repelling characteristics as seen in this video:


But yeah as others have stated, don't toss the OCW! It really is good stuff, makes the white paint on my daily pop, which is hard to do!
