I've been using HD (pre diluted )for a little while now. I use it on the wheel wells of my truck by spraying on a mf towel and wiping on. The issue is that there are so many crevices in the wheel wells that its hard to get complete coverage. I tried spraying directly on to the surface but that tends to use too much product, and I still have to wipe it on. The bottle mentions diluting for engine bays and just spraying on and leaving it. Has anyone had success with spraying a diluted mix on vertical surfaces and leaving it?
I'm hoping for a nice even coverage with no runs.

Yea, I spray it on wheel wells all the time. Don’t stress out on whether you’re using too much.. Just spray until you’ve got the whole area covered and it’ll level itself out as it dries. 10-20min. it’ll be perfect.

I buy it in the gallon and dilute it @1:1 which is the same as what you’re using straight out of the RTU bottle. If you dilute it beyond that it begins to need your manual help in order to work into the surface which is why I never dilute it any weaker than 1:1.

Everything you’re describing comes from not using enough product. If you’re getting runs it’s because you’re not spraying enough. When I use it I sometimes wind up with a little puddle that drips down on the driveway, but the wheel wells are perfect.

I went outside and sprayed my wheel wells just now… This is as they were, not clean, not currently dressed. No prep.

I gave it 8 sprays on this side.

And 6 sprays on the front side. [notice the drip on the cement. No worries]

Come back 20min. later… Looks great. No runs. Perfectly black wheel wells.

That is the beauty of HD. Spray and walk away. Never had to wipe it when i used it on wheel wells and engine bays. It always dries to a streak free finish.

Another option that you may find is more cost effective is Meguiars D4510 Plastic & Vinyl Coating. It’s not currently available in the AG store, but you should be able to find it online.

Hey y'all thanks a bunch. I feel better!
Another question:
I have a 2021 Ford Ranger with a grill that Satan himself designed. How would y'all dress this after cleaning?

It’s the main thing I use it for.

Must be something about Ford grills..........

As mentioned, the Megs D4510 and Mothers version would be ideal here. Have been using the Mothers a little bit lately, and Autoglym make an aerosol instant detailer that works well for this also.

Cool, thanks everyone.
