hey AG FAM! Thanks for checking out my thread! This is my first time posting my work on AG.. reason being is that i do not have a digital camera(got stolen). but this is my first time using the new Megs MF DA system so i broke out the blackberry curve to share some pics of the results.
Job details:
2004 Honda accord coupe. BLK/BLK
interior condition- Poor/very dirty/soiled & stained carpet/leather needing major attention
exterior condition- Dull finish/contaminated paint/heavy swirls & holograms/large scratches/over spray on front bumper and fenders/ heavy water spots/ neglected trim/ wheels just need a miracle
Paint hardness on 1-10 scale = 7 1/2

what the car needs- $ complete restoration inside & out $

what the customer paid for- full interior + exterior w/2 step correction

products used:
exterior- ONR wash/ Oil Eater(wheels/tires)/ Wheel brightener/ scotch bright pad/ Megs APC + Hyper dressing(plastic wells)/Megs silicone free dress(tires)/Griots clay + detailer/mothers back to black(trim)Megs MF DA system compound + finishing wax

interior- Megs APC, Megs spot remover, mothers leather conditioner, Megs quick detailer

Since the car was so bad, i got right into it and didn't get many before pics when it pulled up. Time was not on my side nor was the sun out to take sun shots. but i got a few shots. Sorry i know the blackberry pics are terrible, but i think it might still show some OK before after results, i think lol.

Customer was happy with the results. he said it was the first time he was able to see his full reflection in the paint. he tipped pretty good:dblthumb2:

I really liked the new DA System. it was pretty easy to work with and worked great with my GG 6'' random DA polisher. i did use the recommended backing plate just in case you were wondering. i cleaned the MF disks using compressed air from my Porter cable 6GAL. i also used a brush to see what method was better. Compressed air is better hands down. the only gripe i have is that the compound at times, was a PITA to wipe off with a dry MF in certain areas. maybe i was using too much product?? also, i noticed towards the end of the compounding process, it seemed like little fibers were coming off the disk and flying all over the paint. i had to stop, wipe off the fibers and proceed again. was that because the pad was used too much? i used 1 disk for the whole car, cleaning it after each section pass. i thought you can get 1 car per disk? is that a sign that i used too much product??
the finishing wax was an absolute pleasure to work with!!! got rid of whatever the compound left behind and wiped of effortlessly. Great product overall and i will be using it again since soon. the dewalt needs a rest anyway, as well as my arms...:buffing:

Thanks for looking. i promise to do much better write ups in the near future with a much better camera ;) either way, all comments welcome good or bad:)

Great work. I used the compounding discs for the first time and unless I moved to fast did not have a problem wiping off the polish. I also used air to clean and did so after each section. I used 2 pads because that's all I had I am getting 4 more. I also used some M105 with D300 and it worked flawless.

thanks man... yea i need to try it with M105. i wonder if it has more cutting ability than the DA compound. yea idk why some areas were hard to wipe off, i think i used just a tad bit too much product since im used to working with product that requires more than this system.

did you have any problems spinning the 6" discs? I remember you wanted 5" but they were on backorder.

How many passes did you do? Some ppl have trouble wiping off when they do too many passes.

no the disks spin fine with the Griots polisher, i love how it does not slow down under pressure using the Griots. I think you nailed it, i think i did an extra pass on a few panels that had heavy swirls. only 1 pass extra though. thanks tim

Looks great, and since you got a nice tip the owner thought the same and that is what matters!
