I have 8 of these new 5 inch finishing disks.

When I bought the Megs system I picked them up. Since I do not use the finishing wax, I was wondering what else I could use these for.

could I use these as a 1 step pad for other products besides the Megs finishing wax ?

Heres the list of potential products that I have that could be used.

-Optimum polish II (new version)
-Optimum finish (new version)
-Menzerna 106
-Menzerna 85rd

If I will be forced to follow up with another product because of slight hazing, than I will likely just stick to my foam pads for finishing.

let me know what you think. I would love to be able to finish with MF pads. They are so much better in so many ways than foam.

imo MF pads

-distribute product better on the pad and on the paint
-dont load up and gain a ton of weight and become out of balance
-self clean between trim and emblems on the last few passes
-clean up easier
-dry faster after cleaning up
-last longer
-spin faster and easier on a DA

mainly I love the fact that they dont jam product buildup in hard to reach areas and leave it in a glob like a foam pad would. (prime example is on all the edges of emblem peices)

almost forgot to ask another main question I had when making this thread.

Can I use the Megs MF compound (D300) with the finishing pad ? will the cut and finish remain the same ?

I know megs states the MF material is different but it looks identical.

The main difference between the compounding and finishing pads is the foam. I believe it was stated that difference in the MF part was the density, so you might be right that it looks identical, but there may be more tufts on the compounding pad (I'm guessing). It might be a small difference.

I haven't done it, but I would think any of those products you listed would work well, the Optimum products being SMAT like the D300/301. You could also try the Optimum Hyper Polish or GPS.

sorry, I meant for this thread to be in the auto detailing 101 section.

please feel free to move it mods.

MF were designed to work with SMAT products. The Menz products are DAT but the might work fine anyway.
