I've never heard of a tire dressing "causing" the brown discoloration.

The browning is called blooming and it's when the natural antiozonant in the rubber, (from the rubber manufactures), meets ozone in the air, the antiozonant turns to a brown color.

So it's possible that the dressing exposed or revealed the blooming that was already there making it more visible.

Normally you want to clean the tire first before applying a dressing and this is to remove any road grime or blooming.

Meguiar's silicone-free tire dressing is actually a product formulated for use at body shops where silicone contamination is an issue. It's a product that enables a body shop to dress tires without the risk of contaminating their shop.

Meguiar's Customer Care department maintains a database of reported issues, if this problem has occurred in the past they will have a record of it so maybe give their Customer Care Hotline a call and tell them Mike Phillips says "hi".
