I'm running low on D108 and before reordering a gallon I wanted to see if there was a new favorite?
Don't get me wrong, D108 is efen awesome and I don't mind getting another gallon but I'm looking for suggestions on other products that get the job done.
I use it at 4:1 for tires and under the hood.
Thanks

I'm a big D108 user. I like Optimum Power Clean as an alternative.

I use Meg's Degreaser (1:4) and LA's Totally Awesome (neat) almost interchangeably. I think the LATA works a little better, but I'm using that undiluted.

Thanks but at almost the same price and using it straight, megs still seems to win. Unless I'm missing something?
I just went ahead and ordered another gallon of 108, why try to re-invent the wheel I guess.
Thanks yall

If you search the previous threads someone was talking about Zep degreaser, I think it's the purple one that was outperforming at a lower dilution ration... something like 7:1 if memory serves.

Interesting. Maybe I'll buy some purple Zep and do a comparison in strenght, dilution and price.
Thank you.

My go to is typically Super Degreaser at 4:1. However, I tried Zep 505 here just recently and did a comparison between the two, and I gotta say, I think I like the 505 a bit better. Not a bad price either, as a gallon costs I think around $9.

Do you also dilute it 4:1?

D108 is about the harshest chemical i have in my shop, although it does work very well and doesnt dry out plastic if only used for engines and jams at 4:1.

That said, ive been on the search for an environmentally friendly degreaser with not much luck. Almost all have to be used straight and cost 10 times as much.

Zeps Purple Industrial Degreaser is the best tire cleaner that I have used. Better than all the tire specific cleaners that I have tried. After about a dozen sets of tire cleaned with it, it has never caused any browing/blooming effect. It seems to only clean the surface and not leach anything out of the tire. Which in my experience is what causes the browing effect as the carbon and protective wax migrates to the surface to replace what was leached out.

I use it at about 8:1 ratio for tires.

Ah? I am surprised by this. I was Under the impression the Brown stuff what imbedded dirt into the pores of the rubber.

For tires I have been using the new Meguiars Non Acid Wheel and Tire Cleaner with good results. I stopped buying D108 since I only used it for tires really anyway.

Cool, my local distributer dropped off a gallon for me to try out. I'm gonna buy it if I like it.

How do you like it as a wheel cleaner?

You're using it on painted jams at 4:1? That seems harsh. What's your method? I feel like it would stain.

I love d108 for tires. Do you simply spray on, let it dwell for about a minute then rinse off for the engine bay? I've never tried it there but I have a huge dodge 3500 diesel truck I'm about to detail and he wants the engine cleaned. I would prefer not to have to scrub every nook and cranny.

It won't stain as long as you don't spray it on a dry painted surface and let it streak and drip down.

I only use d108 on neglected jams. Normally I foam the jams down with my foam gun (dawn) and let that dwell for a minute or 2. I then lightly spray with 108 and follow by scrubbing thoroughly with a wool wash mitt that I designate for jams. I then rinse out with a hose and spray nozzle.

The same method works on engines.

For well maintained and nicer vehicles I use APC+ and the same method.

I normally cover seats and dash with large towels when doing jams.

I personally like CG Extreme Oranger Degreaser and NonSense. They both can be diluted to suit your needs, and they work really well! Plus the price is right in bulk, especially with the dilution ratios a gallon my last forever!

Works good for light to medium brake dust wheels so far. Haven't tried it on anything super baked on yet.

Why would you use it straight? It's designed to be dliuted. I sold Jan San chemicals for 18 years and went through a few manufacturers training courses. Most lilkely the guys who make the Megs. All concentrates are designed to be diluted and work more effectively when mixed with h20 by design. It activates the chemicals and surfactants. You can use them in a stronger concentration but using them straight is like pouring $$$$ down the drain.

And most of these degreasers if you were to compare the msds sheets you'd see they have the same like main ingredients.

Hope your using all the protective gear the msds sheet says to, it's got mono butylether in it. Gloves, goggles, well ventilated area etc. It's absorbed through the lungs so misting it on to tires, well you'll get the point.

Try a dliomonene based citrus concentrate. I've been using an SC Johnson product for years. Neutral PH and still really cuts the grease. I sold the hell out of it back inn my days in sales. It's called Stride Accumix. I sold the concentrate, in use cost on a quart was like .32 cents!

1:256 or 1:128 how about that and it's a green product. And trust me on this, more is not better when mixing.

Ijust found it online for about $24.00 which would equal .18 a quart at 1:128. That'll last you for years. I still have abottle from 10 years ago when I left my other company.
