Has anyone tried the Ultimate Wax and what do you think about it? I've pretty much given up on Menzerna Power Lock as its performance is kinda... eh... lately. I went back to 3M Performance Finish which is holding up nicely and gets topped with Meg's D156 during the drying stage and another round of it after the car is fully dried.

I've read some great reviews about the Ultimate Wax, I'm pretty satisfied with Meguiar's in general, not really a brand enthusiast or anything, but I figured using the UW and the D156 would be a no-brainer of a pair to protect my car's paint. And it's locally available, which makes acquiring it much easier if I'm ever in a pinch.

Whatever advice you guys have, whether it's positive or negative, fill me in. If I like what I hear, I'll probably just buy some this weekend.

UW may be one of the most under-rated LSPs out there and it's probably available down the road from you.

D156 is the perfect weekly post wash booster for UW.

I've use the Meg's UW for a while. It goes on really easy and comes of easier. It will not stain black trim. I usually put the UW and then after the next car wash put a coat of carnauba wax on. However, I've only been able to get 1 1/2 - 2 months out of it on cars that sit outside 24 hours a day. For what it costs I like it. I also like to use this on my rims. I use other brands as well but still like Meg's and their products.

Yep, I have a Walmart a mile away, maybe less, and I always see UW on the shelf, lol.

My car sits outside 24/7, as well, and the MPL was working pretty well, but lately in all the storms, the water will not bead from the MPL. It literally sticks like glue to the paint. So far, the 3M has been holding up, but I can only order it online and it streaks, so it forces me to work in tiny sections. I want an LSP that I can allow to dry longer if I feel like it, but also not leave streaks. I like how Meg's advertises how UW won't dry white on trim. I always wind up hitting some trim, but APC usually takes care of the left over residue.

UW is a great wax indeed, I have never had a problem with the trim so that's one good thing about it. Also, a little goes a long way so for the price you get a good bang for the buck:) Oh! And it smells GREAT

Awesome. :) Makes me wanna get it now, lol.

Anyone else, feel free to give your opinions on UW.

It's a sealant, right?

Too late to edit my last post. :(

Is UW able to be layered without build up?

Why "layer", then, if there's no build-up (film-thickness) obtained?

Wouldn't an additional layer of film-thickness at least provide some more 'protection', as it were?

Go get it. You won't be disappointed! It can get kinda streaky but will buff out if caught early. I've used it on my wife's car multiple times now and its extremely durable. Last time I did it was in early June and it still holds up like day 1. I use the D156 after every other wash on her car so maybe that has a helpful effect for the beading. I apply the ULW with my GG6 and red GG red wax pad, it's like a 25 minute process to knock out her little Hyundai. The one time I did it by hand is when I got the streaks, and that was on my second coat of it.

I have used it and still use it. It's great product. You will be fine with either one or two coats. It works great with D156. You will like it.

I have used it on my car and on my brothers car just recently. My car sits outside 24/7 and I got around 5-6 months out of it using meguiar's ultimate spray wax and ultimate quick detailer.

Get the paste one because this one won't streak! Very easy to apply thinly, easy to buff off.

With D156 if you apply it by misting on MF cloth thinly then wipe it on dry paint it will flash immediately, in most cases you don't even have to buff it off! Little effort, great result!

As to Ultimate Wax not staining trim...It is the LIQUID that won't stain.

Two THIN coats (just to ensure coverage), you're good to go.

Megs ultimate is the best commercially available wax(really a sealant) on the market right now IMO.

I love Meg's UPW. Inexpensive, easy to use, smells great, can be applied in direct sun light. On prepped paint I have found that it will last 4-5 months on a DD parked outside, but I boost with D156 every other wash.

I use the Ultimate Paste wax and love it. I've just started detailing (been saying that a lot lately) and found it very easy to use. I think if you're applying by DA you might want to go with the liquid as it does not stain trim. By hand I think the paste wax is the way to go. I use it with the Ultimate Spray Wax (or you can use D156, obviously) and I love that the spray wax doesn't change the look of the paste/liquid and helps with durability. I can't speak for layering as I just use two coats to ensure even coverage and use the spray for in between washes.

Here's a picture of how it looks. It's an '05 and, to my knowledge, has never been polished (I need to save up and get a DA with some polishing). It has light swirls but still looks great with just wash, clay, plus the Ultimate Paste Wax.

^ Are you guys talking about this one?

Yep, that's the paste version of Ultimate Wax.

I may pick up the liquid tomorrow, but the paste would be fun to try, as I've never really used paste wax other than Mother's cleaner wax, lol.

Also, say if I wash my car with Dawn to strip the wax, then dry with D156 to avoid drying swirl marks, could I immediately apply the UW since it works together with D156? Would it possibly interfere with the application and curing of UW?
