So I was driving through a different part of town and happened to see a Car Quest Auto Parts, which I don't see many of. Since I was familiar with the car care selection of the other four parts stores, I thought I'd stop in and see what they had. Not surprisingly they had most of Meg's Ultimate line, but they also had Duragloss 101, 105, 111 and AW. My question is: If you guys had a choice of one brand or the other, which would it be?

It depends on the work I need done to me. I'd pick Megs if I could only have one line but would miss a lot of my DG products.

I'd choose the Meguiar's line simply because of the correction capability otherwise it would be Duragloss.....:props:

Meguiars and Mothers are the standard products for detailing cars ,but I do like Duragloss products very much.

Duragloss Aquawax is amazing.
It's my go to spray wax/sealant.

My DD is a '12 Tundra, so I don't need much to maintain it. Most likely just car soap, polish, wax/sealant, QD, etc. I use Meg's now but I'd be willing to try DG if the results are as good or better as Meg's.

LOL I started using Meg's years ago and have been pretty faithful (aside from the occasional Mother's tryst!) I always got good results with Meg's even though I always just used the burgundy liquid wax after a wash (blasphemy!!!) several years ago I started noticing an expanding line of Meg's products in stores. Only then did I realize how many different products were available for different situations, and I realized that "wash&wax" just wasn't the ideal process. I am intrigued though by DuraGloss' products. I bet I'm not the only one who used to think that DG was like the "as seen on TV" brand. However, I've seen their products mentioned from time to time here and thought I'd inquire.

No way would I force myself to choose one product line! I really can't stand compromise and don't feel I should have to with detailing supplies. The Duragloss sealants and DG 901 are definitely worth picking up next time you're on that side of town! Hell, they're even in the coating game now. On the other hand Meguiar's manufactures fantastic polishes, pads, towels and many other quality products. "Find what you like and use it often".--Mike Phillips

Both make good products, but it's generally Meguiars for me.

As an aside, I think DG921 is a re-bottled Megs Last Touch. They look, smell and perform the same to me! :)

Meguiar's for correction/polish
Duragloss for paint cleaning and finish

I love Megs products. I am trying out some Duragloss products and there really good, I stopped at a Carquest also.lol

As far as soap goes I'd go to DG901 without hesitation over Meguiars Gold Class. Spray wax I'd go DG too. What other products are u using from Megs?

Pretty much the entire Ultimate line plus Gold Class wax to top the UW (which I haven't tried yet)

I hear what you're saying. And if I was doing someone else's vehicle I would not limit myself to one brand; however since this is my DD and I have limited time, it's a time saver to be able to just use one brand with great results, without having to experiment with different combos.
Thanks everyone for your input!

I dont see much reason to switch. That Ultimate line is pretty darn good stuff. If youre happy just stay with what you have.

If you want to pick a brand and stick with it, you really can't go wrong with Meguiar's. They have one of the broadest inventories of products out there, and a lot of them are available at your local Wal-Mart\Autozone\etc.

It's cheaper that way too. I used to be entirely loyal to Meguiar's, but now my garage is filling with Menzerna, Chemical Guys, Poor Boys, and more... The wife unit is not happy... :bat:

LOL agreed on the last part, I also have a variety of products from many brands so I try not to get sucked into just one. Since I do a lot of work where there is no shade I use PBs a whole lot. Its hard to say "if you had to pick one" because there is so much good stuff out there. I have used my fair share of megs products and enjoyed working with all of them. I have only used AW from DG so I cant give a valid comment on the rest of their products but AW is some pretty good stuff. Anyway, this forum would be pretty boring if there was only one company everyone had to buy from. :xyxthumbs:
