So lately I have seen a bunch of posts on Megs WB. I don't like to use it to much because I am scared it will hurt the rims. However, people had given me confidence about the product so I used it the other day.

Now, I have rims that are plasti-dipped and I don't like to touch the paint on them to much. I always used Iron-X and Sonax but they are expensive. I must say they do work well. With that said, I found Brown Royal a yr ago and had gotten some to try out. It is cheap and works great. Not as good at the Iron-X or Sonax but not far behind. After reading all the comments about the Megs WB I decided to try it out. I used a 4:1 and it sucked. I went back and resprayed it again then lightly agitated it and still it sucked. I ran to my Brown Royal and sprayed it on the rims and only rinsed them and they came clean. Am I not using the WB correctly or something? It has good reviews. I don't want to give up on it. I will have to do good review with all the products soon with pictures. Sorry, I didn't take any as I thought the WB was going to be the stuff.

In my opinion I like the Iron-X but don't use it as I save it for paint. Sonax I use more often because its for wheels. Brown Royal is the first one I reach for if its super cheap and works really well. I force myself to use the Megs WB and will keep forcing myself as it doesn't work for me.

I would highly suggest the Brown Royal to you guys if you have not tried it. Its not that expensive $30 or so and it smell like S#it, but so do the Iron-x and Sonax.

It's possible it doesn not work well with plastidip. The only meg's product that I have used that works with plastidipped wheels is D143 Meguiars Non-Acid Wheel & Tire Cleaner.

You have mixed Megs WB correctley at 1:4 i have also seen the same results but what i am start to think is that brown royal and sonax are the same just one a little weaker and dont turn purple

You are correct...besides the strength, color, consistency, color changing affects, country of origin, dilution ability, price....they are the same product. lol.

Hopefully you wore the proper HF-acid PPE when using WB.

You are not using WB [D140] correctly.

Brown Royal is an alkaline (base) product...highly alkaline (highly basic).
One of WB D140 warnings is to avoid strong bases.
A harbinger of mixing an acid with a base.

Hopefully you also had some calcium carbonate on stand-by.

This is one of the two reasons I don't like Megs WB. The other is it just doesn't work for me. :dunno:

I ordered Meg's WB and should get it tomorrow.
Some mix it 50/50.
Is it effective at 4:1?

I don't like it bro. I think its not only very hazardous but there are better out there. U should seriously order the Brown Royal and I know u will be happy. All I can say is I am using WB wrong. If this is true, then it sucks because I used it on other wheels as well and the other products are far better. U will have to experience it and get back to me. Spend the money on some BR and then u will be happy. U can dilute that up to 10:1 as well. So for $30 its a 10gal product. THat stuff is FOR REAL.

Thanks man, wish I knew of this before I ordered it:(
I'll let you know soon.

Something doesn't sound right, as WB has yet to fail me.

Man am I glad to hear that:dblthumb2:
I'll be using it for the first time this week.

How well does it work diluted 4:1?
I had planned to cut it 50/50

1:1 is my normal dilution ratio.

OK, that was my plan so I'll stick with it.
It will make me two gallons:dblthumb2:
Please follow the PPE guidelines provided in D140's MSDS.

You just underwent a serious surgery...
You don't need any other adverse medical
conditions to befall you.

I'v been using WB for over 4 years now and only had 1 issue with wheels that already had failing clear coat. The rat nasty cars that I get in my shop usually have gnarly baked on brake dust that's been there years....love me my WB for sure, works great and is rather cheap.

I also bought a gallon a while back and have used it 3 times. First on a Mercedes-Benz stock wheels clear coated. They were really neglected and had coats of caked on break dust. I first rinsed then sprayed WB @ 4:1. First 2 wheels after heavy agitation came out beautiful after rinse, not one speck remained.

Now on the other 2 wheels I sprayed the same, let sit for 30 seconds and no agitation and rinsed with PWasher. They also cleaned up well, but then upon closer inspection I noticed that on this 2 wheels the clear had cracked (real small cracks almost like tick marks) at random spots!¿ I don't know if they were there before but sure are very visible now. Also you can't feel the cracks with your finger nail.

Today I tried on some polished clear coated wheels and it worked good on 3 but the last one had some clear peeling off and decided to try it anyways....WELLLL.... that didn't go as planned because I now have a black stain on the lip....Oops

I will sell the remaining and get something safer for all finishes
