I just used my recently delivered Meguair's Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner and my got it stinks. I just wanted to do a quick wipe down before running errands and had to drive with the windows down! Its just as described in this thread... Meguair's Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner - unpleasant odor - Page 2. I did a search but couldn't find anyone here saying the same. Any one else experience this as well?

Bad batch, call Meguiar's Customer Service for a replacement.

For any of you who have experienced a vinegar smell with QID, please contact our Customer Care Center at 800.347.5700 to have the product replaced. This was a known batch issue and we have since corrected the issue. Those of you who actually enjoy the scent of QID are on target with this - it is a nice smelling product (as is so common with our line) and you have not experienced this particular batch. We do appreciate you chiming in to confirm that this is an anomaly and that the proper scent is indeed pleasant.

Just got off the phone with them. I was told this was the first they heard of this with the D149 (gal.) so I'm sending them the jug. Ive never used it before and I am definitely used to harsh chemicals and this stuff almost ran me out of the car. Maybe I'm crazy?

I use that stuff all the time. I have never found the smell offensive. In fact, it's a pretty mild fragrance.....I can barely smell it even right after I use it.
As indicated, you might have gotten a bad batch.

They told me the same thing. I've never used it until a few months ago and I ordered a gallon from AG. I was down to 1/4 a gallon so I placed another order and when it arrived I discovered my old gallon was bad. Since I had never used it I wasn't sure how it was supposed to smell. They told me that since I used so much of the gallon I'm screwed. Megs customer service let me down. Oh well plenty of other great companies to buy from.

Just got back from shipping the gallon to Meguiars at the UPS store. Should get there around this upcoming Friday to next Wednesday. I will keep you updated.

Lol, I wouldn't refund your dinner if you ate 3/4s of the steak to wait and complain about it. I wouldn't totally blame them but I see your point id be disappointed myself. I am however glad I'm not the only one with this experience so thanks for the info.

I had done a bit of research before buying to make sure it had a pleasant smell because I had planned on using it often. After a day at work I leave some dust on my rubber floor mats in the car and wanted something for a quick cleanup that I could leave in the car and to wipe down the rest before picking up a date. I'm sure as hell not picking up a woman with my car smelling the way this stuff did.

Like I said I'll keep everyone updated. Depending on what they say I'll send AG an e-mail. Obviously not AG's fault but I'm sure they'd like the info.

This isn't really a big deal at all. The thread you posted directly from Meguiars forum clearly shows a post from Michael Stoops saying it was a "known batch issue". They'll replace it.

I dunno about this stuff. I used it a while ago it was OK. Didn't smell great. But, honestly - ONR 1:16 works just as well and doesn't smell bad.

With the $26.00 is cost me to ship it? I agree its not a big deal but they were unaware D149 was having the same issue and I had to ship it to them. I love Megs' but its not like I just sent them a picture and they're sending me a replacement but hey, these things happen! Just wanted people like AbileneAutoWerx to be aware if they have never used it before and got a bad one.

•I'll never recommend using QID on rubber mats.

•Compared to some of the Women I used to pick
up for dates: The aroma of a "bad batch" of QID
would probably have been considered an improvement.

Like I said I had never purchased QD before so I didn't know something was wrong until I ordered a second gallon. I just thought it was supposed to smell like $hit. Lol

Sometimes products just have bad batches.

This same thing happened to me with the Megs QID the first time I tried it.
It smelled like rotten eggs.
I tried it again later and it smells quite nice.

I like this product very much.
Just detailed the interior of a work van yesterday and used the meg's QID as part of the regime.
Looks, feels, and smells great.

Why wouldn't you use it on mats? They are just the digital Weather Techs, smooth for the most part and just primer and gravel parking lot dust from my boots. I've had some bad batch girls as well but they don't ride in the Cadillac!

You actually have WeatherTech
rubber floormats in your Cadillac?
How gauche!!

That is confusing

You were down to 1/4 gallon...

But, you "had never used it"?

You liked it enough to re-order

You used 96oz of the 128oz in the container and the smell changed?

Meguiar's Customer Service is one of the best I have personally experienced. I have been at training sessions at their Irvine, CA HQ where several of the attendees were Megs CST Reps. They are very well trained and knowledgeable about a huge portfolio of products. Not an easy job.

I had never used it before so I ordered a gallon to try out and noticed it smelt bad but since I had never used it before I didn't know if it was bad or not. Smell aside I liked the performance so when I was nearly out I ordered another gallon and when I opened it I noticed how much more pleasant the smell was compared to the first gallon that was nearly all gone. Is that easier to understand?

I was disappointed in the scent as well. Megs has an otc interior cleaner i bought at Walmart that smelled like coconut. I loved it. That's why I was so disappointed in the gallon of qid. Now I just wring out a towel in 114 and wipe everything down

Yes, much easier to understand

I added paragraphs, to make it even easier

Smelt is a Fish
