Well I just got it in the mail a couple days ago and finally got a chance to use it...Why is it so great? I used it on my brothers white Audi A4 yesterday and it was pain to get off! Pretty nice shine to it tho. But why such a fuss about it? What makes it so great? I hear lots of "Its a great wax" on forums but no reason why. Is it the durability? I only have 3 waxes(PB Red, Souveran, Megs GC Liquid) so maybe I should try some more to get a better feel on waxes.

well 16 is a very durable wax....and looks nice on certain colors..its no show wax..but a good looker with some very good protection....

Now if you had a hard time removing it ..you used to much...you apply it to the point you do not even see it on the paint...takes practice....use a damp applicator....

AL

A rule of thumb when useing #16 "If you think you're not using enough, you're using to much". What made it great is a few years ago it was $15 or cheaper. So for $15 you got 11oz of a wax that could be spread super thin and gave you 3 months protection (2 coats). One tin can last you 10 years and yes I am serious.

I think there are two camps on #16 .... those that truly love its durability and thus continue to search it out. And the second, those that want a piece of a dying breed. This wax was discontinued here due to VOC regs and has become MUCH more popular since being removed from shelves.

(NO WARS) -- Personal Thoughts

I have a tin of #16 and used it once so far, I would a gree it's an okay wax nothing special about it to...well that I could see, the shine didn't really blow me a way but the durability is something I'm interested on seeing for my self so I think I'm going to have to try it out on one of my own vehicles and see the protection for my self...thing is I should do it on my daily driver bu the daily driver has so much rust it would be hard to see the durability of #16 hahahaha :D

I like the wax for durability. I have had no problems buffing it off! I use WOWO method. I personally use it on my car because it's not polished (no UDM yet) and I just need something to protect it for a while :)

For durability I like my Collinite 476, or even 845. And it's cheaper then #16

I have 2 cans of #16 and I actually think it looks pretty good over some M21. It wont compare to NB, but it has a clear wet look almost like P21s. Durability is great, I have it going on a work truck for 3months now, still beading strong.

Yeah so its durability. Alright thanks everyone.

BTW can a mod move this to detailing discussion? I accidentally posted it here.

Yah, I acquired 4 - which was not easy - from various places.....kept two, as my son took over one, and sold off the 2 I got last.
It was nice to try, because of the hype, but overall, I don't see a need to die over it - you know? There are a lot of other things out there to use.
I guess it is a case of forbidden fruit, except for Wytstang. There, it is just plain love!

I know some go nutz trying to get Megs 16, but trust me, pick up a newer offering like Collinite 915 and you'll have even longer durability and an excellent look. And just like #16 you have to apply very thinny or you'll pull your hair out trying to buff it off lol.

Hehe I purchased all of mine except for 1 for $15 or less that's why I have the amount I have. On White #16 is my favorite and has outlasted all the sealants I have used. No I haven't used SG or Ziano and those are the only 2 that would out last it that I know of.

I personally think it is just hype... and I think it is obvious what hype does to detailing products...

But #16 has been around forever and that alone says that it must be a decent wax... plus its a little old school.

#16 is a very nice wax, I really don't know when this hype started, but I have a whole bunch of cans LOL. I got mine for a good price so I don't mind. I will say that it doesn't bead water as well as #20 or 21, but it has a lot of larger beads, where as M21 has super tight beads and M20 is slightly less tight. #16 has a good look to it and gives most higher end waxes a run for their money. I think it isn't the best at durability or looks, but I would say it is up there. :P

I think it is time for a side by side test.
#16 vs 476S vs Sovereign

Yeh just like Collinite, pretty much the only sealant that will last long is doing a full Zaino process. I don't know what the heck is in those waxes that makes them last so long (Collinite and #16). DG #105 topped with either will make a bullet proof combo, SG last but it looks like blahhh and is so finicky.

I've never known about 16 until people started talking about it. I've never seen it in any stores that sell Meguiar's products. I still love beauty waxes over long lasting waxes that give less looks, but my car wouldn't show the full potential of a beauty wax, that's why I use 16 on it :)

I've seen #16 on 3 cars at shows.. they looked great, losta flake in the paint on 2 of 3 and they were popping. Can't speak on durability.

I picked up 2 cans for a reasonable price, I'll use them when I come across a vehicle that has the right paint.
