I just tried the Meguiars black wax and WOW! I really does leave a " wet looking " shine. I used it on a red car. Solid color with no clear. P.P.G. Concept paint to be exact. While reading about the wax,it is described as having " polishing oils " which aid in creating this wet looking appearance. My question is , Does any other product that anyone is aware of, also contain these polishing oils , maybe a little more of them , to create an even wetter look. Especially in the Megs line . Thanks in advance, Steve

It does work well as an AIO thats for sure as far as polishing oils the most oily one I can think of from Meguiars is their M7. Mike uses it on old Single stage paints to let them soak up all the oils in it and it can be used on clear coats just use it sparingly because it will be a PITA to get wiped off if you use too much (ask me how I know)

Hey Steve,
You worked over PPG Concept paint. So it's being applied over a repair or a complete repaint. Polishing oils is a pretty vague statement by Meg's. According to their website it polishes during application and it contains polymers. Which sounds to me like an AIO. cleans, polishes and protects. The fact that it is black leads me to think it contains fillers (IMO) that back fill tiny scratches and imperfections creating a more uniform appearance. Anything that is hidden by a filler in a product will reappear once the product starts to fail on the car.

As far as "wet looking" and polishing. Polishing paint makes paint shine, reflective and wet looking. Sealants and waxes enhance and protect the paint.

The answer to your question is yes. There are quite a few AIO's out on the market. They are meant to produce "good" results in one step. You give away somethings to save time. They can only remove so may imperfections, they do a fairly descent job at cleaning the paint usually by a solvent in the product. The protection the leave behind is descent and only last's a few weeks or so. Some of them usually contain fillers to hide scratches and imperfections.

I tried # 7 and it does not look as wet as the black wax. I know it says it gives a show car shine but it's not as wet looking as the black wax. Does anyone know what the name of these oils are so i can check the ingredients on some product labels ?

Megs Ultimate Polish/M205 is probably what you are looking for.
However as others have mentioned M07 has most oil I believe and its a pure polish.

I am not looking to hide any imperfections or clean the paint The paint is new and in excellent condition. I was just using the black wax as a gloss enhancer. Like putting Pledge on a new piece of furniture. What ever oils are in the product seem to work well. That is why i asked if those same oils are in any other Megs product. The ones in # 7 do not look the same. When doing a side by side comparison, the #7 side appears to be duller.

Deep Crystal Polish also contains said oils.

Other "polish/wax" combos from Meguiars include Gold Class Carnauba Plus, NXT 2.0, and Ultimate Wax. There may be more that I'm unaware of as well.

I recall Meguiar's referring to these oils as "trade secret". However, Ibelieve due to v.o.c.. laws, and msds records, full disclosure is enforced. Maybe? I don't know for sure.

The Meg's black wax is an AIO it is polishing, cleaning and protecting. It's not a LSP. For a straight gloss enhancer you can use CG Wet Mirror or Black Light (The Black Light does have abrasives in it and behaves a little like an AIO.) CG Gloss Workz which is a true glaze and does back fill. If your looking for straight gloss enhancing CG Wet Mirror or the V07 will do what you are looking for without fillers or any silicone

I'm sure many use it as an LSP with great results.

Meguiar's "oils" are usually considered: trade secret (T.S.) and/or Proprietary.

Where necessary...
These oils/ingredients are listed on the MSDS' as: T.S./Proprietary with a corresponding CAS# that
is a: specially petitioned request...to protect their chemical make-up, such as depicted below:

Chemical............................CAS#/Special ID........%
T.S./Proprietary........................000000-02-1............

So far that seems to be enough to satisfy the EPA, and other concerned 'groups'.

:)
