This will be my first review of a product, so bare with me.

Im giving you a review of the Megs 3" Microfiber Cutting Pads I just received. I had Chevrolet Tahoe to do this morning so I figured I would give them a go.

This is the second time I have done this vehicle for this customer. I showed her the RIDS, swirls, and lighter scratches that were present when she brought it to me the first time. She wanted to get them out but wanted to do it the next go around.

I broke out my Porter Cable 7424 polisher. Granted, this is the old model with the 3.7 amp motor. I have had this thing going on 10 years. I used Megs D300 and the 3 inch backing plate which came right to the edge giving me a "exact fit" backing plate/pad combo. Kevin Brown told me this would give me better control and cut better since all the pad was being used and getting the same pressure.

Note(Im only using the 3 inch pad and plate because im still waiting on the 5 inch to come in. I was only doing the door for her today to basically show what it should look like)

Here are the before and after pics.

nice job :) please post pics if you do a write-up!

Nice results. I'm a big fan of D300 and microfiber pads. Also like microfiber pads with FG400 when I need even more cut than D300.

Do you see them? I posted a lot of them. :props:

my bad lol, i meant a complete write-up with pics of the whole car, etc,. :) those pics do look great, keep up the great work...:dblthumb2:

The pics are fine nice wright up I use them all the time.

Just wait until you try out mf pads with that rupes. They are a match made in heaven.

Do any of you guys use the finishing pads? Was wondering if they are different?

I used my same cutting pad/d300 combo on a Camaro the other day, and the swirls and scratches weren't coming out very easy.

Do you guys keep your pads of a while or do they end up shedding and you throw the away? Didn't know the durability you are getting out of them.

Truck I did for a fireman buddy with the 5 inch cutting disc.

Great topic.

I can only talk about 5" cutting and finishing discs, which I have and use often. Durability is great, I wash the pad immediately after using them, with neutral soap and pad brush until they come back white (just like new).

I've found Meg's MF discs have great durability.

I've also found they (mainly finishing discs) don't like higher speeds, so the 3-4 speed setting is optimal, since pad can get too hot and risk damaging backing plate (almost damaged mine while testing 5-6 speed with finishing disc). Pressure also is an important variable to deal with.

I could also manage to use them with Flex 3401, and found them to go smooth in contrary to what I've read that they would not work well.

It's just a matter of proper technique. Using M100 with Cutting MF, I've got better results with little to no pressure, while with foam pads I get the cut with medium to heavy pressure.

You show impressive results with MF, you should already have noticed that different technique is key when using MF.

Thanks for sharing,

Kind Regards.

I was really impressed with the small cut and finishing ability of SF4500 using 5.5" MF finishing disc and Rupes 21! It's all I needed to have a near perfect finish on the side of my Prius.

Great turn around on both! :xyxthumbs:
Assume you used D300 and a 5.5" cutting disk for the black truck? Curious, did you decide to polish afterwards or just leave with the compound?

I used d300 and the 5" cutting disc. I polished with m205 on one and the white one was haze free.

I never used the finishing disc at all. I use menzerna 4000 and 4500 on my personal truck with a white or black pad.
