Hi all, i am interested in the Meguiars gold class trim detailer as my bumpers and mirrors are dull black trim. they are greyed out.
I just wanted some review or opinions on it and how well it lasts in the rain or if there are better trim restorers out there. Thanks all for the answers :).

It looks amazing straight after application and while it isn't wet.

Unfortunately, it doesn't last too long through rain or car washing, which is fime if you don't mind re-applying it after every wash.

There are several superior (more durable) products out there such as WETS (Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant), UTTG (Ultima Tire & Trim Guard) and Solution Finish.

ok then, thats interesting. It doesn't sound like a very good product if its not waterproof. You would think they would make a trim restorer that doesn't just wash off. cheers for the reply.

I had to look this up because I never heard of it. It appears to be a product that USED to be for sale in Europe.

Can't find it on their site anymore...

yea im not surprised haha. those other products mentioned i cant buy them locally. But i have seen some meguiars ultimate black sponges. they come pre treated. Any of you guys heard of or tried them out? cheers.

I've tried the Ultimate Black (but not in sponges) and it's much more durable than GCTD.

ok then i might give those sponges a try as i know of the ultimate black cream form however my local auto store doesn't seem to stock it. but how do you think the ultimate protectant cream compares?

I believe they are basically the same product, but UB is the "new and improved" version. It will last a bit longer than UP.

I haven't seen Gold Class Trim Detailer in ages. It was my favorite! Every time I'm at a parts store I check for it, (sometimes products come back from the dead) but I never see it.

It definitely didn't last long, but nothing else made trim look as good as that stuff did. Everything else I've tried since then hasn't been as good. Most stuff is streaky/splotchy in my experience.

ok cheers for the answers. was just curios if anyone has tried spray painting the bumper black as this would seem like the best idea to me? thanks :P

I know some have sprayed pieces but would require removing the trim or lots of masking.

The TurtleWax Jet Black Endura Shine Trim Coating works pretty well at covering up faded trim and has good durability. It also works well on rubber pieces. I have a few test spots with it on my car I did back in mid March and still looks the same. It can be a little hard to work with. Light coats works well and it's important to remove all oxidation first, but I think that is a must for any good trim restoration.

Get the Endura Shine one, not the regular trim restorer
