Meguiar's New Ultimate Wax- Paste

Has anyone tried this yet? I have 2 cans in my order, 1 for me and 1 as a birthday present for a friend, but it's on back order and holding up my order from sending. I'm wondering what it is going to be like in comparison to NXT 2.0

Has anyone got their hands on any Ultimate wax, paste or liquid yet or got to try it as a sample?

I have a can of it but haven't been able to use it yet. Hopefully this weekend.

According to Mike Stoops from MOL, the Ultimate Wax and NXT 2.0 are not the same. He said they are completely different technologies. I don't remember him elaborating on their differences though....

i have the liquid version...but sorry i wont be able to use it til we get a weekend in indiana above 40 degrees.

Havent used it myself yet but some over on MOL say its the same streaky mess as NXT.

Yea I read on MOL that it's different to NXT.

I haven't seen the review on MOL saying it's a streaky mess but ill have to have a look for it. I'm not a big fan of NXT wax to be honest. I'll try and do a half and half test of it with NXT on a work car if I get the chance, although that may be a couple of weeks away before I get the time.

Biggest thing will be for me if it's more durable than NXT, because my friend uses NXT currently and I am giving him a can for his birthday.

I also have some DP Poli-Coat on the way too.

I hope its not the same as NXT(durability and streaky-ness wise)

Again, if its more durable than NXT2.0, I'll definitely be trying it!

I personally use it, after i use Meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax, I think it gives it more of a wet look!!

every post I've read from someone who used the liquid mentions streakiness.

i held off buying it because, imo, many of Meguiar's sealants are streaky even after the swipe test etc.

Mr. Stoops mentioned the streakiness problem should be easily solved, but I have not read the reviews.

He also said it is more durable that either NXT 2.0 or M16.

Hopefully my order wil arrive within the next few days so I can get to try it..... If it stops raining.

Does it need a moisture free period to cure like other sealants?

I'm by no means an expert.....but Ive had good luck with the nxt 2.0. Never had any streaking problems at all. Jusy my 2 cents

I've had some streaking issues in the past with NXT and M21, but it was usually an issue with black paint and usually humid summer conditions. It was never enough that I stopped using them, I would usually have to give them another wipedown with a QD mist in those areas. M21 was my go to LSP on details...

I have it and it's great for an OTC wax. I picked some up at my local parts store on sale and I've used it on two vehicles so far. I'm not sure about durability, but it looks good and goes on very easily.

I just applied Ultimate Wax liquid with a DA on my black truck with a LC Black pad. It took 15 minutes to do a four door truck.
The look wasn't that great when I did it in the morning but it looked absolutely awesome in the 75 degree afternoon sunshine.
I know "Dude that stuff's really shiny!" doesn't make for a good product description but..."Dude that stuff's really shiny!"
It's now slick, hard & has nice depth. The shine and clarity, are flat out awesome and not at all plastic "Saran Wrap" looking.

I normally lean towards paste for therapeutic reasons. Now I can be done in 15 mins.
The Megs folks state that the liquid and the paste have the same look and longevity.
So I chose the liquid application using a DA. Also the liquid UWax does not stain trim!
I'm really blown away with the ease of use, look, feel, finish and the depth of shine.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see a "consumer" product that performs this well!

What the Meguiar's folks say...

"Our longest lasting protection with amplified reflectivity
For maximum protection, durability, depth of color & reflectivity
Meguiar’s® Thin Film technology makes application and wipe-off effortless, even in full sun!
Meguiar’s® proprietary Hydrophobic Polymer Technology™ reduces surface tension so water beads & rolls right off!
New synthetic polymers crosslink to form a protective barrier that accurately reflects & amplifies light for incredible depth & mirror-like shine
Will not turn trim white
Includes applicator pad and microfiber towel"

whats the consistancy of the paste.....hard?

To quote Michael Stoops on MOL
"...almost like applying warm, partially melted butter."

Michael Stoops said:
The application experience is very different, almost like applying warm, partially melted butter. It goes on amazingly thin (hence the Thin Film technology in the description) and wipe off is super easy. The liquid version won't stain trim at all - the paste may due to ingredients in it that make it a paste format - and it can even be applied on a warm surface in direct sunlight. While we've tested this on surfaces as hot as 158F we still recommend applying on a cool surface, but if you're stuck and can't get into the shade, you can still use Ultimate Wax.
