Is it even a system? (i.e. higher numbers means....)

Or do they just add a number to the names of all their products in order to make a quick reference for people that are already using it?

I personally like the idea of sticking to one brand when it comes to polish+finish (at a given time in conjunction with one another, I'm not THAT crazy loyal). I currently have a small line of Wolfgang products in my cabinet, but I was curious about grabbing some Meguiar's for testing.

Only problem is, I see all the numbers and they don't seem to make any sense. Are they supposed to?

I guess I could just read the description of 90 different products, but you could see why that's a little irritating. But that may be what needs to be done, just curious if there is a rhyme and reason for it all.

Thanks!

For the older line, see this link:
Understanding the Professional Line

For the newer stuff, you will have to read some descriptions...

#105 = Excellent compound, to be followed by #205
#205 = Excellent polish, these 2 are basically a standard combo.

#95 = Decent compound, will require a polish afterwards, rotary only, SMAT and DAT in one bottle.

I wish someone could update that old thread at Meguiars OnLine.

The meguiars system is very complex, but once you get to know it, its easy. Using something like m105 has extra heavy cut, while m205, not so much. The numbers are more for the pro line and mirror glaze line, but products such as Uc are near the amount of cut as m105. I would personally ask mike, or the mike stoops from meguiars to get the best results

Okay, so it sounds like there isn't a great meaning to the numbers that gives you an idea of of the product line.

From that standpoint...I think I'll just pick up what's popular and take some 105 and 205.

edit: Placed a new order gathering 105/205 and Meg's sealant along with a slew of other items to get the free shipping deal. I must vow not to spend any more money on supplies for a while (in all honestly, I really shouldn't need to, I've bought like $800 worth in the last month and a half for purely personal use). Damn you AG!
