Last fall I bought the Mequiars Clay Kit and clayed a couple of cars with it using just one of the supplied bars cut in half in case I dropped it. When I ran out of clay lube this summer, I ordered some ONR and mixed up a batch of ONR Clay Lube and ONR QD to see which I liked better.
Since I have started using the ONR for clay lube the clay has started to act different. It could be the clay has reached its end of life and I need to open the other bar but I wanted to check and see if anyone has had problems with ONR not playing well with some clays. The one bar bar cut into two pieces has probably done 5-6 cars.
Problem - the clay will stick to my fingers leaving a layer of clay attached to multiple fingers when I am kneading it. Like the clay at times has lost its ability to stick to itself. I figured rolling the clay bar over the clay stuck to my finger would take it right off, no dice.
I am basically wondering if there is some human error here, clay is past its expected life, or ONR maybe doesn't play well with some clay??
Megs is my go to clay when I expect some heavy cleaning to be done, I have pinnacle poly for new cars or finishes in good condition. Would I be better off going to a different general purpose clay?
