I was at Meguiars last night and had the chance to try out a couple of their new products..

After I clayed my paint, the horizontal panels were given a quik polish with Megs M205 on a microfiber finishing pad. Then it was onto the new Meguiars Ultimate Fast Finish.

Very easy to apply, pretty much foolproof. Simply spray onto a microfiber towel and wipe onto your paint and lightly buff off with a clean side of the towel... Smooth, boy does this stuff leave your paint smooth! Impressive. Immediately upon applying, it darkens the paint the same way some sealants do. [probably due to the carrier oils]?

Initial impressions: slick and glossy.

I haven't had the chance to do a water beading test but I will soon and post my thoughts. I'll also post a longevity test update in the next few weeks to see how well it does as far as actual protection. Looks promising.

is it just me or is the trunk grey and the hood black?

Just something to note-- I recall a thread a couple days ago and it was discussed whether UFF was trim safe (it might have been in Guz's review). My conclusion was that yes, it is "trim-safe". No staining whatsoever, trim was very slightly darkened. I applied UFF a week ago and while I was at it, I took my towel and ran it down the black plastic bed rails of my pickup. Fast forward a week (and a few hours of rain). And I now have some waxy/oily steaks of product running down the sides of the truck bed. While I'd still consider the UFF to be "trim safe", it apparently didn't cure or set-up on the trim. This has to be the UFF, as I've not applied anything else to the bed rails in quite some time.

Not sure if I can say this here, but take a look on MOL, when UFF was being discussed pre-introduction last fall, and Nick Winn addresses this. The Guz was in on that, and did a great early review, I believe.

How's it holing up after a week in your neck of the woods?

I did a quik waterless wash yesterday morning. There was not very much dust/dirt on the paint since Thursdays appliciation. Just 2 large 24"x36" towels, 1 to wipe, 1 to dry and I was done in 5min. I didn't feel the paint.

I took it off a long time ago... In my experience the beading went away rather quik, like within a couple of weeks. It sucks because my results seem to be the exception compared to alot of others we've heard about testing this product.

To be honest I think I'd have way different results on testing products if I used the Kia as a guinea pig. But I don't like to mess around with that vehicle.

Crazy thing is that I was either too lazy or ran out of time and my cars paint has been bare without any form of protection at all since that day for a couple of months now... There's 2 huge bird droppings on the hood too. I need to take care of it.
