I understand both are finishing type polishes to remove compounding haze or for jeweling, both to be used after compounding and before a wax or sealant, I've tried a test panel with either and both finished superb, are there instances where one would opt for the one over the other? Ultimate Polish is also labelled glaze so I assume has filling oils where as SF4000 has no fillers but more cut? Does Ultimate Polish replace M#7 or Deep Crytal Polish? I'm trying to place these different products into perspective.

Super Finish or SF 4000 is DAT type professional grade fine finishing polish. It takes longer to break down.

I think number 7 is a Glaze and dosn't have any cut. I'm not sure is Ultimate polish have any cut.

Megs #7 is a glaze and has no cutting/correcting ability.

I've used Ultimate Polish before on several occasions, but have never seen any reference to it having any filling ability, nor have I observed those properties. From what I can tell, it's simply a finishing polish.

I don't have the Menzerna 4000 or 4500, but I have used Blackfire's SRC Finishing Polish, which is closely related to the Menzerna finishing products. I've found the Ultimate Polish to work really well on softer paints like Subaru or Toyota, while the Blackfire Finishing Polish worked better on harder paints like VW.

No it does not.
Meguiar's M07 is what is known as a pure polish:
one that contains no abrasives.

:iagree:

If i understand correctly there are two possibilities for polishes.

Chemical Stripping of Wax and contaminants
Physical Stripping using milled abrasives similar to a compound

I have used ultimate polish now quite a bit and have found it does take quite a bit of time to break down but removes swirls and provides a brilliant finish after a short working time.

I was doing 12 section passes when i started (i was doing it wrong, doubley wrong) and did not cause dusting with the ultimate polish. The ultimate compound however, was turning into so much dust that i was hacking on it.

The neighbor kids were asking me how i was "making snow on my car?" lol

Ultimate Polish is SMAT based, and does not break down.

What will happen is after more than 4~5 section passes (especially with UC as you've found) the abrasives will actually GROW in size with abraded paint and spent product and start to damage the surface (as you've also found).

The trick with SMAT based products is to use them to do your correction then wipe and remove them while the product is still wet. If you need more correction.... reload your pad and hit that section again. I'd never hit a section 12 passes with a SMAT product without doing a clean on the fly half way (or less) in and going back in surgically clean with new product.

With Menzerna however (DAT) it really doesn't do it's job till it breaks down. Given 1:1 same cut product SMAT/DAT the DAT product actually has more cut that first pass (than a comparable SMAT product) then quickly starts to break down. After getting half way through that process many will pull the pad off the surface, do a light spritz of DI on the pad to "refresh" the product, turn the speed up a bit, then go back in and work the product through to the end of it's cycle.

To add a little more information. Ultimate Polish is derived from M205. The difference between these two is the M205 offers more correction and Ultimate Polish offers more polishing oils with still a decent amount of correction.

Sf4000 will most likely finish down better in most cases, especially on soft paint.

The SF4000 has more cut and is easier to remove but the Ultimate finishes nice too.

SF4000 has just barely more initial cut, but the SMAT Ultimate Polish continues to cut.

If the paint is in good condition UP comes off cleaner, and IMO easier. Menz stuff is much more oily and takes more wipes to get clean.
