I did this 04 Mercedes AMG SL55 over a year ago and just came up with a few hours to do a write-up on it. Basically a complete detail with Stage 3 paint correction. Nothing too heavy, just a ~85% swirl correction, Interior & Engine Detail. Here’s what I did:

Befores:

Wash/Paint Prep:
Soaked the engine compartment down with Auto Magic Special Cleaner:

Hand washed with one of Phil’s microfibers:

Clayed with Blue Clay Magic & Body Shine:

Once the paint was free of topical contaminants, I used Micro-Surface’s 4000 grit sandpaper to flatten things out more. I used the idle setting(no pressure) on my Pressure Washer to allow for constant flushing of the surface:

Once the paint was clean & sanded, it was still beading water from the recent wax job. That had to go before I buffed so I used some special cleaner from Stone Soap Company to strip any remaining protection:

Beading before:

No Beading (50/50):

Removed certain trim & taped the rest:

This is one of the early rock hard Ceramiclear paints. Notice the “C” in the paint code:

Before shots of the paint:

The entire front end had a Clear Bra & it was even swirled up:

Afters (pre-LSP):

Nice work,

certainly is a beautiful car, love how you made that red practially glowing.

Super job David, but please get rid of that mf as a washing media. Since it's been a year ago I hope you are now using a sheepskin or a grout sponge.

Looks great Dave, how have you been. Are you going to the PRI show in Orlando in December?

Awesome work!

How long did that roughly take from start to delivery?
What products did you use for the correction?

wow....love those Mercedes paints, they look awesome when done correctly

Very nice Dave! I thought I was the only one who clean my pedals with a toothbrush.

Hi Dana - I've been swamped with work. I'm going to try, but at this point I'm booked solid until February. I'll PM you if I do. Thanks man. :dblthumb2:

Thanks Chatelaine! I had this one for the weekend. Probably ~20 hrs. If I remember correctly, I mostly used Menzerna SIP with MS Black Lambswool pad for the inital correction. Then backed it down to 85rd.

Thanks Impressions - They sure are nice. As long as they aren't Black. :D

Damn that looks nice, it has a hard candy shine to it (blow pop?).
